Extraction 2 Brings Back One Of The Best Parts Of The Original
One of the best parts of the 2020 Chris Hemsworth action movie Extraction was its lengthy “one-shot” scene, and from the sound of it, the sequel will up the ante even further.
Writer Joe Russo told Collider that they filmed a 14-minute continuous take for the sequel. For comparison, the one-shot sequence in the original Extraction was about 12 minutes. While the final version might be shorter than 14 minutes after editing, fans can rest assured that the sequel includes the same type of lengthy one-shot, and that’s exciting to think about. Russo didn’t share any specifics on the “oner,” as it’s called, but teased that it “may” feature a helicopter.
The 12-minute one-shot from Extraction featured director Sam Hargrave strapping himself to the front of a car–putting his life on the line in the process–to film the very memorable scene.

Warzone 2 DMZ lets you hitch a ride atop the extraction helicopter
The Warzone 2 DMZ mode is already proving one of the most popular additions to the revamped Call of Duty battle royale game inspired by extraction games like Escape from Tarkov. Key to DMZ is that, after picking up some of the best Warzone 2 guns and other valuable items, you’ll need to extract, or ‘exfil’, in order to claim the contraband gear for your stash. Once you’ve secured the items, you’ll have the option to take them out on Warzone 2 DMZ faction missions and other tougher challenges.

Chris Hemsworth Raises The Stakes In First Extraction 2 Footage
Chris Hemsworth is returning to Netflix next year for Extraction 2, a followup to the big-budget action spectacle released in April. In a behind-the-scenes vignette showed at Netflix’s Tudum 2022 virtual event, Hemsworth and director Sam Hargrave talk about how they’re amping up the stakes for the sequel.
Hargrave jokes that a sequel needs to have twice as much action, and so we get an up-close look at practical effects including car-flipping explosions and stunt work. The centerpiece of this movie is an ambitious new one-shot, according to Hargrave, which involves a helicopter landing atop a moving train. The vignette is also narrated by Hemsworth, featuring a level of dramatic exposition you’d expect from the actor.
The first Extraction included another memorable one-shot action sequence, which lasted 12 minutes in all. Those sequences take a lot of planning and precise timing, but it was such a hit that Hargrave wants to outdo himself this time. The first film reached 99 million homes in its first month, making it one of Netflix’s most popular movies of all time. The writer previously said that the next film will be “very different” than the first.
