Doom and Quake veteran John Carmack leaves Meta with “mixed feelings”
John Carmack is the co-founder of id Software and programmer for prolific games such as Doom, Quake, and Wolfenstein 3D. The programmer and developer has long since left id, however, and has been working as consulting CTO for Meta since 2013. At least, he was until he announced his plans to leave Meta on Friday.
Via Business Insider, Carmack’s decision to leave the company was announced in an internal memo, which the publication describes as “scathing.” Reportedly, the memo was published to an internal workplace forum at Meta, with Carmack criticising Meta’s augmented and virtual reality efforts.
Carmack’s memo starts by saying, “This is the end of my decade in VR. I have mixed feelings.” He continues by stating that the Quest 2 is almost exactly what he wanted to see from the beginning, however, efficiency is an issue for Meta.
Animal From The Muppets Reveals His Favorite Elden Ring Boss–And His Very Strong Feelings For Her
For two years in a row, the loud and lovable Muppet Animal has graced The Game Award’s stage to talk games and dish out awards alongside host Geoff Keighley. This year, however, Animal treated us not only to some of his signature pizzazz, but some of his takes on 2022’s biggest games. Turns out, Animal is a big fan of Elden Ring, and when asked who his favorite boss in the game was, he was very enthusiastic to reveal his undying affection for the Goddess of Rot herself, Malenia.

While not everyone is as enthusiastic about Malenia (and her Waterfowl Dance, in particular), Animal’s enthusiasm surely makes up for it. And who could blame him? Sure, she might have destroyed a good fifth of The Lands Between just to reach a stalemate against Radahn, but you can’t deny she looked incredible doing it.
The Muppet then expressed his adoration for Metal Gear and Death Stranding creator Hideo Kojima before awarding God of War Ragnarok for Best Score and Music.
James Cameron Reveals His True Feelings About Thanos
Unlike certain other high-profile directors, James Cameron is a professed fan of Marvel and DC movies. But in a new interview for Avatar: The Way of Water, he weighed in on the VFX used to create Marvel villain Thanos, versus the VFX that brings his Avatar characters to life. And you won’t be surprised which he favors.

How Pokemon Scarlet’s Titan And Starfall Quests Got Me Right In The Feelings
We all know the drill by now. You want to be the very best, like no one ever was, so you set out on a cross-country journey to catch and train adorable monsters and rise to the ranks of Pokemon Master. It’s a tale as old as time, or at least as old as 1996, and Pokemon games rarely venture outside this comfortable template. That made it all the more surprising when Pokemon Scarlet made me actually care and look forward to two of its three main story paths.
Spoilers follow.
If you’ve been following Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, you know that the game consists of three main story paths that you can take in any order. Victory Road is the traditional quest to become a Pokemon master while doing battle with your friendly rival, Nemona. Starfall Street is also a take on the classic Pokemon formula, as you invade and topple the bases of this game’s ostensible antagonists, Team Star. And the Path of Legends has you venturing into the wild to battle against massive Titan Pokemon.
