FIFA 23 ratings: the top 100 players
The FIFA 23 player ratings signal the end of an era. For the first time since FIFA 07, neither Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo sit atop the summit, with cover star Kylian Mbappe standing tall as we head into EA’s last ‘FIFA’ branded sports game before the license expires next season.
In truth, it’s been coming. Both Messi and Ronaldo lost a certain spark after their 2021 moves to Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United respectively, despite quality individual returns. The beginning of Mbappe’s reign is likely to underline a year of pretty significant change among the top 100 rated players – though do note this doesn’t include the FIFA 23 icons or FUT Heroes. Here are the FIFA 23 ratings for the top players in the game.
Hit the Pitch in FIFA 23 Early with EA Play
FIFA 23 and other EA titles will come with controversial “kernel-mode” anti-cheat software
The latest game publisher to add kernel-level cheat protections is EA. The new EA Anti-Cheat (EAAC) debuts in the upcoming FIFA 23 for PC later this month. Senior Director of Game Security & Anti-Cheat Elise Murphy explained that it would eventually roll out to all of EA’s multiplayer competitive titles.
EA will debut new anti-cheat tech with ‘FIFA 23’ on PC
Electronic Arts is determined to keep cheaters at bay. The company has developed a kernel-level anti-cheat system for PC that it will deploy alongside FIFA 23 when the game arrives on September 30th. According to the publisher, the move was necessary to “ensure fair play” by taking on PC cheat developers who are increasingly building kernel-level exploits that OS-level anti-cheat tools are unable to detect.
In a blog post, EA’s senior director of game security and anti-cheat Elise Murphy wrote that the company created EA AntiCheat (EAAC) because “third-party anti-cheat solutions are often opaque to our teams, and prevent us from implementing additional privacy controls or customizations that provide greater accuracy and granularity for EA-specific game modes.” It should also be able to address security issues head on.
EAAC won’t be used in all EA games, though the publisher says it’s necessary for competitive titles with an online focus, such as FIFA 23. This year’s edition includes cross-play support and, in theory, EAAC should prevent console players from having to deal with PC cheaters. The company may take different anti-cheat approaches in games without leaderboards or a competitive system. As such, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see EA add EAAC to the likes of Apex Legends, but it seems unlikely to be patched in to the 2021 Game of the Year (don’t take my word for it) It Takes Two.
The tool will only be active when a game with EAAC is running on your PC. It will be uninstalled when you remove all EA games that require it (you can uninstall EAAC manually, but the likes of FIFA 23 won’t be playable). Murphy wrote that “EAAC will have negligible impact on your gameplay,” so it shouldn’t diminish performance.
As far as system privacy and security goes, Murphy says that EAAC will only examine the files it needs to for anti-cheat reasons. EAAC will hash the information that it does collect and jettison the original data. The tool won’t collect data from your browsing history, apps that don’t interact with EA games or anything else that’s irrelevant to its purposes, according to the blog post.
EA isn’t the first publisher to adopt a kernel-level anti-cheat approach. Riot and Activision use similar tools in Valorant, Call of Duty: Vanguard and Call of Duty: Warzone.
All FIFA 23 Icons list
Want to know which players make up the FIFA 23 Icons list? Exclusive to Ultimate Team, Icons are the best players to have ever graced the sport. All Icons have four cards released throughout the game, each one representing a different period of the player’s career. Ultimate Team has strict team-building rules to stop players from assembling any team, but Icons don’t have any restrictions at all, being able to slot easily into any team. No matter who you pair them up with, as long as they’re in the correct position, Icons will always align with your team chemistry.
EA has added new players to the FIFA 23 Icons list this year, and they have confirmed most of the historic players are returning from FIFA 22. There have been some great candidates for Icon cards that have retired in the last year or so, and there are a number of players from the ‘80s, ‘90s, and ‘00s that haven’t joined the football game yet.
FIFA 23 Pro Clubs guide
It’s fair to say that FIFA 23 Pro Clubs comes at a time when recent versions of the series have overlooked the mode. New features have often been minimal for a game mode that has amazing potential, with priority in the football game going towards Ultimate Team, and to a lesser extent, Career Mode.
While FIFA 23 will have some smart additions, such as seasonal progression across Pro Clubs and Volta, the recently announced tweaks aren’t going to mix things up too much. Could EA be waiting for EA Sports FC, the big rebrand coming next year, to revitalise Pro Clubs? Either way, here’s everything new that has been announced for FIFA 23 Pro Clubs.
FIFA 23 stadiums list: every ground in the game
There are 105 FIFA 23 stadiums and locations featured in the final iteration before the FIFA branded videogame goes the way of the dodo. This includes five new stadiums to one of the best football games, along with two famous venues returning from an absence, as the licensing roundabout continues to spin in the battle against Konami’s eFootball.
Whether you’re getting stuck into FIFA 23 Career Mode, Pro Clubs, Ultimate Team, or Volta, there are plenty of grounds to choose from. Bang in goals at the Stretford End of Old Trafford with one of the many FIFA 23 Icons or use some FUT Heroes to set records at Wembley, here are all of the FIFA 23 stadiums in this year’s game.
FIFA 23 Seemingly Just Leaked, a Month Early
FIFA 23 career mode guide: new teams and features
The FIFA 23 career mode is getting a smattering of new features before EA’s partnership with football’s governing body hangs up its boots and EA Sports FC takes its place in the sports game world. Career mode often plays second fiddle to Ultimate Team thanks to features like FIFA 23 Heroes, but that doesn’t mean it’s been left to wither.
The focus this year is very much on useful additions rather than major overhaul, including tweaks to both Player and Manager careers, as well as new teams and leagues to play with. Here are all of the new FIFA 23 career mode features and team changes announced so far for the 27 September release.
