A Knee Injury May Have Made BJJ Great ‘Buchecha’ an Even Better MMA Fighter
“I want it now!” What do hardcore fighting game players think after hands-on with Street Fighter 6?
VsFighting X, the 10th instalment of the UKs biggest fighting game event made its glamorous return this past weekend in the heart of central Birmingham. Walk past all the construction through the doors of the Millenium Point venue and excited crowds of competitors and spectators dominated the space. However, as brilliant as the tournament itself was, one of the most popular attractions was Street Fighter 6 on the 2nd floor.
With a crowd of eager players larger than even some of the titles with their own dedicated tournament space, four monitors of the version 1.0 build quickly became a hot spot for every attendee. The game, as you may have noticed if you’ve been following it since its announcement, has a lot of hype around it as all mainline Street Fighter titles have had in the past.
While the opinions of many influencers and press outlets are out in the wild — including our own impressions of the game — this was a great opportunity to find out what your typical gamer thinks of the next big thing flying out the doors of Capcom. To find out, I made the journey out to Birmingham to get the consensus.
I really hope Street Fighter 6 doesn’t get any guest characters
It is honestly a really good time to be a fan of fighting games. Guilty Gear is good, there’s a new Smash alternative in Multiversus, there’s probably a new Netherrealm game on the horizon, there’s definitely a new Tekken coming, and Street Fighter 6 is well and truly on the way, in the thick of what’ll presumably be a relentless promotion cycle over the next nine months or so.
There’s a lot of reasons to be excited for Street Fighter 6 in particular, too. For starters, Capcom’s fighting game unit is under new management, and the core creatives in charge of SF6 are the same guys who dragged Street Fighter 5 out of the gutter and ultimately made it a high quality and shockingly well-balanced game in its final seasons. It also looks really nice – in my opinion the best-looking 3D Street Fighter to date – thanks to both shrewd art direction and Capcom’s brilliant RE Engine technology.
But one other thing I’m excited about based on what we know of the game so far is that it appears to be continuing a Street Fighter tradition – ducking the modern fighting game trend of guest characters.

Multiversus leak points to Stranger Things fighter… leak
A load of new Multiversus leaks points to multiple upcoming fighters, including the Smash Bros style fighting game‘s first non-Warner Bros crossover – a Multiversus Stranger Things fighter collab. How was this leaked? Thanks to another leak, in fact.
Now that the game is actually, out Multiversus leaks pointing to skins such as LeBron James Robin and a Wonder Woman movie skin have already been datamined – but more exciting are the potential new fighters. According to leakers such as Mvsleaks, files mention fighters such as Raven and Robin proper from Teen Titans, Scooby-Doo (of course), Gizmo and Stripe from Gremlins, Daenerys from Game of Thrones, Beetlejuice, and more.
However, the most intriguing listed is Eleven from Stranger Things, which – if accurate – would be the first non-Warner Bros property to appear in Multiversus, since the show is owned by Netflix. There’s even a datamined voice line from Raven, which definitely seems to be the DC hero’s usual actor Tara Strong (who also voices Harley Quinn in the game), which directly mentions fighting with Eleven.
