Street Fighter 6 – The Final Preview
Street Fighter 6’s World Tour mode feels like a token distraction from its awesome arcade fights
In the incredibly rare circumstance that you might have had a Kinder Egg as a kid, was the toy ever your favourite part? It sure wasn’t for me. I was all about the chocolate. Sure, I’d crack open the yellow canister inside, let out some variation of, “Oh, an elephant!”, and promptly toss it in the bin and walk away, its destiny consigned to landfill. In the landfill of my brain, I’m currently carving out new space for Street Fighter 6’s World Tour mode. It’s available to try now in demo form on PC and consoles, but I’ve been able to play a larger build of it that covered the first two chapters. Sadly, I can’t say it left much of impression.
In case you’re equally bemused by what SF6’s World Tour actually is, this is a new, open world, RPG-style mode in which you make a custom fighter, run around small areas of Metro City and other locations around the globe, and level up. There are moves to learn, side quests to complete, and you can even do mini-game activities such as making pizza. Between all of that, you fight people. Other fighters, unruly gang members, random folk making their way to work in the morning. You can punch almost all of ‘em! There’s a glimpse of the Street Fighter you know and love here with its side-on 1v1 bouts, but everything else around it is unnecessary fluff. In other words, World Tour is the token toy inside the more delicious Street Fighter chocolate.
Don’t play the Street Fighter 6 beta “outside of the designated period,” you might just get banned
If you had access to the Street Fighter 6 beta, and you’ve continued to play outside of designated hours, you might want to cut that out before Capcom finds out.
In a recent tweet from the Capcom Fighters Twitter account, the developer shared that it had found some players had been playing the Street Fighter Closed Beta Test even though the test was technically over. As a result, Capcom has clarified that any other players that do this may be banned from playing in some of the upcoming tournaments that feature the fighting game.
“It has come to our attention that some users have been accessing the Street Fighter 6 Closed Beta Test (CBT) software and playing the game outside of the designated period,” the statement opens. “This is a violation of the CBT Terms of Service and can be seen as a violation of the Capcom Pro Tour code of conduct.

Street Fighter 6 gets a new demo that’s available now on PlayStation
Street Fighter 6 comes out in a little over a month, but if you want to get warmed up before the game’s full release, you can check out a new demo on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 right now. If you’re on Xbox Series X / S or PC, the demo will be available on April 26th.
As part of the demo, you’ll be able to try out part of the game’s World Tour single-player mode, and build a custom avatar for World Tour that can be transferred to the full game at launch. (Well, as long you end up playing the full game on the same platform.)
Capcom revealed the demo as part of Thursday’s Street Fighter 6 Showcase, which was chock-full of new details about the game. Here’s just a few:
