Space Force unveils its official song and it’s cringe! Very cringe!
Space Force unveiled its official song and phew boy is it cringey. It’s a chorus singing lyrics about the limitless sky and “the watchful eye” of the “guardians beyond the blue.” It’s just not great. It’s weird. And it’s absolutely perfect for the Space Force.
The song is titled “Semper Supra” after the Space Force’s Latin motto meaning “Always Above.” Here’s the song.
In case you were wondering here are the lyrics in full.
We’re the mighty watchful eye,
Guardians beyond the blue,
The invisible front line,
Warfighters brave and true.
Boldly reaching into space,
There’s no limit to our sky.
Standing guard both night and day,
We’re the Space Force from on high.
Not to be too cynical here, but honestly I had to confirm the whole thing wasn’t a parody. The sincere references to our space “warfighters” and the “mighty watchful eye” over us all seemed so strange. Yet it is very real. The Space Force itself put out a press release about the song. As one person in Mashable’s Slack chat said, “we live in such an uncanny, Starship Troopers world.”
Space Force was created by former President Donald Trump in 2019, basically to be the military, but in space. It’s always seemed like a strange, close-to-parody branch of the military. Hell, Netflix made a sitcom about it almost immediately. Trump even claimed in a speech to have made the whole thing up on a whim.
“We’re doing a tremendous amount of work in space. I said, maybe we need a new force. We’ll call it the space force,” he said in 2018. “And I was not really serious, and then I said, ‘What a great idea!’ Maybe we’ll have to do that.”
So sure, a sincere song about the space warriors of the United States seems to fit this whole thing very well. People immediately joked about it online.
Honestly, they should have just leaned into the absurdity of it all and had some sick guitar riffs or a sax solo. But oh well, you get what you get.

All The Hulks Are Coming To Marvel Strike Force
Marvel Strike Force, the free-to-play turn-based mobile game, is getting an influx of Hulk content very soon. A new trailer for the game, shown during the D23 Disney and Marvel Games Showcase, showed Hulk, She-Hulk, Red Hulk, and more. After the trailer concluded, Disney revealed that Red Hulk will be coming to the game on September 13.
Red Hulk, sometimes also known as Rulk, is a Hulk nemesis. He is a form taken by Bruce Banner’s father-in-law, United States Army General Thunderbolt Ross. It’s unclear (but safe to assume) that this will be the case with the Red Hulk seen in the trailer. How he will fucntion in the game is not yet clear as the trailer was a pre-rendered, non-gameplay affair.
Marvel Strike Force is available on iOS and Android devices.
Steel Rising review — A ballet of French steampunk and Souls that’s more tedious than tour de force
It takes a lot of guts to throw SteelRising into the Souls-like ring. It’s a popular arena, ever-growing over the last few years as more and more people dive into a genre known for intense action, a healthy challenge, and gruesome, fantastical worlds. If a game can set itself apart, like The Surge 2 or the Nioh series, history has shown the move to be worthwhile. But for every success story there are twice as many bombs, who couldn’t stand up to obvious and unavoidable comparisons to some of the best games released over the past decade. SteelRising, in my mind after a full playthrough and some change, doesn’t quite make the mark.
Let’s start with what you likely already know. SteelRising is a third-person action game, where you adventure across several levels taking on an environment packed full of difficult enemies before encountering a gigantic boss posing a significant challenge. You have rechargeable healing items that are restored at set resting points, as well as a variety of consumables that aide in combat. Killing enemies provides currency which can, in turn, be used to upgrade your character and weaponry. It’s a Souls-like. Chances are if you’re reading this review, you know exactly what foundation Steel Rising is built upon.
For what it’s worth, this foundation is fairly solid! Your movement as a French murder doll in the midst of combat has you weaving in-between attacks and string together powerful combos with a mix of regular, heavy, and special attacks. Put on enough pressure and you can break an enemy’s posture, allowing you to land a single devastating attack. Backstabs aren’t here, but are instead replaced with a universal sneak attack you can land on any and all unaware automata. If you’re fiending for some of that Dark Souls-esque action, feats like these do indeed cause your brain to shoot off those sweet signals.
Three senior cops BANNED from force after behaviour towards woman at ‘boozy’ retirement bash sparked misconduct probe
THREE senior cops have been banned from the force three years after being accused of inappropriate behaviour at a “boozy” retirement party.
One former-Chief Superintendent, Mark Warrender, was accused of “inappropriate touching” during a police chief’s leaving-do, a disciplinary hearing heard.

Chief Inspector Paul Staniforth was banned from ever working for the police in Britain again[/caption]
Warrender, temporary Assistant Chief Constable Marc Budden, and Chief Inspector Paul Staniforth were banned from ever working for the police in Britain again.
Allegations against the three officers stem from the leaving party of former Gwent Police Chief Constable Julian Williams in 2019.
The boozy farewell celebration started at the police force’s HQ in Cwmbran, Gwent, before moving to a popular nightspot in Cardiff.
But shortly after the party, which was attended by numerous high-ranking police officers, a female officer made a complaint of sexual assault.

The allegations led to the dismissal of the three officers after an independent panel found them to be proven true, however prosecutors decided not to bring criminal charges.
Although Warrender has already retired, the other two disgraced officers will now be dismissed from Gwent Police.
A force spokesman said: “Mr Warrender retired prior to the outcome of the hearing but had he not, he would also have been dismissed.”
The allegation triggered a joint investigation by the Independent Office for Police Conduct alongside the Avon and Somerset Police, with evidence also sent to the Crown Prosecution Service.

During the chief’s leaving-do, the trio were accused of having an “inappropriate conversation” with a junior colleague – with Warrender also accused of “inappropriate touching” during the party.
Officer Budden was accused of “failing to challenge or report the conduct of chief superintendent Warrender” related to the alleged inappropriate touching.
It is also alleged that he failed “to disclose relevant evidence and/or a conflict of interest” in relation to the same matter.
Budden is also accused of engaging in “inappropriate behaviour whilst on duty,” and providing “various dishonest accounts about his conduct.”
After joining the force in 1996, Warrender rose to head of the criminal investigation department, where he stayed until his retirement.
Budden joined the force in 1993 and was head of neighborhood policing, partnerships and uniform operations until he became temporary assistant chief constable.
Gwent Police did not specify which of the allegations had been proven.
However, they did confirm all three officers were banned following the hearing, meaning they will never be permitted to work for any police force in Britain.
Deputy Chief Constable Amanda Blakeman said: “This outcome sends a clear message that these kinds of behaviours will not be tolerated within Gwent Police.
“The public expect high standards of integrity from us and where officers abuse their position of power they will be held to account.
Over the past three years we’ve reflected on behaviours and changed our culture
Deputy Chief Constable Amanda Blakeman
The Deputy Chief Constable continued: “We’ve made great strides in reinforcing the standards we expect from everyone in our service, regardless of rank.
“Every day the vast majority of our officers behave with professionalism and honesty when serving their local community and behaviour such as this lets us all down.
“Our focus has remained on the needs of the victim and ensuring that anyone, within the force or within our community, feels confident to come forward and report unacceptable behaviour to us and that they will be believed and supported.”
But the hearing being held behind-closed-doors has been slammed by Welsh politicians.
Natasha Asghar, Conservative Senedd member for South Wales East, said the hearings should have been open to guarantee “total transparency”.
She said: “It is absolutely vital that the public has confidence in our police and gives them their full support in the tough job they do in keeping our streets safe.
“Anything which undermines public confidence is therefore a matter of great concern.”
Another Senedd member, Laura Anne Jones, added: “Quite clearly it’s in the public interest for the public to hear the full facts of this case, especially in light of the recent problems with the Metropolitan police.”
However, in her remarks Deputy Chief Constable Amanda Blakeman said: “The chair’s decision to hold the hearing in private meant that individuals in this case felt able to participate in the process.
“Taking action against senior officers is a huge step for colleagues and we can only applaud the courage of the individuals who came forward and participated in this complex investigation.”
