Steam sale celebrating turn-based games is a hidden gem
An ongoing Steam sale celebrating some of the best turn-based strategy games along with tactical RPGs, roguelikes, deck builders, city builders, 4X games, grand strategy games, puzzlers, and even more that fall under the wider spectrum of turn-based games is a fantastic celebration of one of the styles most traditionally associated with PC gaming. But you’d be forgiven for missing it, as it’s almost completely hidden on the Steam store page without some careful digging.

Xbox Game Pass has a multiplayer gem that is much better than you think it is
Xbox Game Pass regularly gets new games, but its catalogue of titles is now so large that it’s easy to miss or forget about games that have been on the service for a long time. If you’re like me, you’ll put games onto your ‘play later’ list, a digital pile of shame that you know full-well will see titles leave before you get the chance to sample them. That’s fine. It’s what Game Pass is: an ever-changing all-you-can eat buffet. You know the pizza is always going to be there, but the Moroccan spiced lamb might need to be gobbled up before it’s replaced.
One such game is Human Fall Flat from Curve Games and No Brakes Games. Thankfully it’s pizza in this contrived analogy, and it’s being served in more than one place – it’s on Xbox Game Pass (console, PC, and cloud) as well as PS Plus Extra tier for PS4 and PS5. Hooray for subscription services!
Early moments with Human Fall Flat introduce the slightly unusual controls, which focus on the use of your featureless character’s arms to grapple with the game world – itself a rather bland environment, the kind of area you’d feel happy letting a toddler explore, crayons in slobber-soaked hand. Human Fall Flat is often labelled as “for kids,” and there’s no denying that it’s brilliant for younger players, but it’s fun for everyone if you give it a chance.
Blizzard promises Diablo Immortal gem compensation after controversy
A spokesperson for Activision Blizzard has said it is considering Diablo Immortal gem compensation following outcry around a recent update to the fantasy game. The arrival of Diablo Immortal patch 1.6.2 introduced a number of changes to the Blizzard RPG game, but one of its most controversial was a change to the description of one of the Diablo Immortal legendary gems on sale in its in-game shop.

Diablo Immortal gem update leaves players demanding refunds
An update to a notable Diablo Immortal legendary gem has angry players demanding refunds from Blizzard after a clarification showed that an item sold in the fantasy game’s real-money shop was inaccurately described. Legendary gems can often help define a character’s build in the RPG game and the Blessing of the Worthy gem was previously considered one of the most potent, before players realised a discrepancy between how it behaved and what its description said.

Diablo Immortal players fret over 40-week wait for free legendary gem
A new currency has some Diablo Immortal players worrying about a potential 40-week wait to get their hands on a free legendary gem of their choosing in the Blizzard RPG game. Others, meanwhile, say the new resource is a step in the right direction for players who want to play the free PC game without feeling forced into buying microtransactions. Getting your hands on the best Diablo Immortal legendary gems is a key part of the endgame, and finding the right ones is an instrumental process in creating the best Diablo Immortal builds, so having a chance to choose which to craft is a potentially potent addition.

Eight years later, Alien: Isolation is an unmatched horror gem – and the high-tide of licensed games
Saving your game shouldn’t be so stressful. Getting to a Registration Point and operating the key card-activated, payphone like system – it takes seconds. But seconds are precious. Especially when there’s something, somewhere nearby, lurking. Waiting. Breathing. Watching. You’re pressing the skin of your face to the inside of a locker, eyeing up that terminal, knowing it’s less than 20 feet away, probably. But, moments ago, you heard the telltale ding of sinew on metal. The Xenomorph is nearby. And it’s waiting for you to make your move.
Time is running out. Both in the game, and in your real life – you need to save, and get on with that article you’re supposed to be writing. So you close your eyes, take a deep breath, and try to slink out of the little cupboard you’ve crammed yourself into as quietly as possible. A glance at your motion tracker seems to suggest you’re safe. Footsteps echoing through the deserted Sevastopol station. Breath ragged in your ears. The blinking light of the terminal closing in. Your hand on the machine. Then – fuck – it’s coming up and out of your chest. Its tail, tearing through your ribs, your lungs. That’s it. Game over, Ripley.
Some may argue that this is appalling game design, making you gamble on whether or not you can actually save your game. You can lose hours of progress if you mess up your timing, if you gamble against Ripley’s ability to stay alive. But I think it perfectly encapsulates what makes Alien: Isolation one of the best games, ever. Even saving your game makes you think about survival – makes you think about death.
I begged my gem of a daughter to get rid of her dog before it killed her – we have to stop these nightmare deaths
A MUM begged her daughter to get rid of her dog two weeks before it killed her, she has revealed.
Dot Robinson, 67, warned Joanne Robinson, 43, “something bad” was going to happen before the deadly attack.

She had seen the American XL ‘bully’ bulldog Rocco start fighting with their other dog but Joanne insisted: “I can’t give up on him mum!”
Rocco killed mum-of-two Joanne when he pinned her down in his jaws at her home in Rotherham, South Yorkshire.
Dot, of Wath-upon-Dearne, South Yorkshire, told the Mirror: “I warned her what would happen but she adored that dog.
“Our Jo had tried to do everything right but they were just so big and strong.”

Sister Vicky Robinson, 45, said she wishes Jo listened to them and got rid of Rocco, but added: “I never thought the dog would ever turn on them.”
There have been an increasing number of deadly dog attacks across Britain in recent years.
Gran Ann Dunn, 65, was mauled to death by a pack of out of control dogs in Liverpool on Monday.
And schoolboy Jack Lis died last November when a dog attacked him while playing with a friend in Caerphilly, South Wales.

Joanne paid £4,000 for Rocco at around eight weeks when she saw a breeder in Doncaster, Yorkshire, advertise him online.
Dot said the two dogs were “like her babies” but problems began when they started fighting last year.
They had to be separated, Jo had cancelled a holiday to stay with them and was preparing to pay £400 for a dog behaviourist to help.
Jo, a carer for young people with down syndrome, died after the attack in July.
Boyfriend Jamie Stead, 22, desperately tried to save her by fighting off the 18-month old pet.
He has undergone skin grafting for potentially life changing injuries to one hand and has suffered injuries to his other hand, abdomen and face.
He had phoned Dot asking her to come because the dogs had attacked them both. She said: “Oh bloody hell, not again.”
But she said she collapsed to the ground when she arrived at the house and realised Jo was dead.
She said: “We’re not coping. None of us. She would not have blamed Rocco for it though.
“Jo was like that, just lovely. She always picked up waifs and strays. She was a gem and was adored around here.
