Xbox just released the second wave of titles coming to Xbox Game Pass for the rest of January and the beginning of February. Revealed today during Xbox’s Developer Direct, Hi-Fi Rush by Tango Gameworks is available today, January 25, on Game Pass. It’s on the service right now and also in the Xbox Store and on Steam with Steam Deck support–if you’re interested in directly purchasing the game.
In other notable titles, GoldenEye 007 is also coming to Game Pass on January 27. The classic James Bond game has been updated with achievements and 4K resolution on Xbox. GoldenEye 007 will also be available on Nintendo Switch, but with an exclusive online multiplayer feature that the Xbox edition will not have.
For the rest of the list, there’s a little bit of everything for everyone. For strategy enthusiasts, Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition will arrive on January 32. If you’re a Jojo fan, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R–the fighting game with Jojo characters–will be available. Hot Wheels Unleashed Game of the Year Edition is a racing game and arrives Feburary 7.
A release date for GoldenEye 007 has been set for Nintendo Switch Online and Xbox Game Pass, and it’s coming soon. Like, really soon, as in this Friday, January 27.
Announced last year during a Nintendo Direct broadcast, the iconic Bond game is back with all the nostalgia attached to it – and more.
The Switch Online version will feature online multiplayer for up to four players, allowing folks across the world to play together. It is the only version of the game with this feature. In multiplayer mode, up to four players can compete in several scenarios based on Bond film elements from You Only Live Twice, The Living Daylights, The Man With the Golden Gun and Licence to Kill.
The announcement that a remastered version of GoldenEye 007 is heading to Xbox was met with cheers – rightly, given it’s one of the best games of all time. Then the cheers gave way to confusion, and disappointment, as it was confirmed that the version of the game releasing on Xbox consoles won’t have online multiplayer – only the classic split-screen.
In a weird twist, the Nintendo Switch version will have online play – but that release is basically an emulated version of the N64 release rather than a true remaster. It’s all a bit of a mess, and a bit of a disappointment. GoldenEye’s multiplayer is undoubtedly its most famous feature, and while it absolutely will forever be at its best when you’re crowded around a single screen – I also feel like online is a bit of a must in the year of our lord 2022.
If you want to play GoldenEye multiplayer on Xbox, however, this is an option – and it’s been available since 2010.
