Apex Legends players are turning to mob justice to resolve their matchmaking woes in the battle royale game. The Apex Legends Season 14 release has proven very successful so far, with the new update pushing the game to a new Steam concurrent player record. However, many players have recently expressed dissatisfaction with the matchmaking system in the ranked mode for the FPS game.
One of the most highly upvoted posts on the Apex Legends subreddit at the time of writing is the latest in a series of rants from players at lower ranks who say they are fed up of dealing with Masters and Apex Predator rank players appearing in their lobbies. Another popular post urges developer Respawn to “stop worrying about matchmaking times,” claiming that players would rather sit in queue for a little longer than end up in matches with players of vastly differing skill levels.
Now, it appears that the community has taken matters into their own hands. A viral clip shows a huge group of rival players seemingly teaming up with their enemies to eliminate a Predator rank player in their lobby. Inqo, the player in question – who goes by datemike97 on Reddit – posted a short video of them dropping at the start of a round only to realise that a huge number of players are trailing behind them in pursuit.

Lead game designer for Riot Games’ iconic MOBA, Matt ‘Phroxzon’ Leung-Harrison, today posted their plans for League of Legends patch 12.16. He goes into some minor detail about plans to change Diana’s kit potential, while also maintaining that this patch will be conservative so as to not change things too dramatically before Worlds.

Fans are thinking an Apex Legends Loba Heirloom is coming in the battle royale’s Season 14, and they may just have good reason to think so. One of Respawn’s animators commented on Twitter that Loba has been on their mind a lot frequently, and it instantly set fans wondering what the significance of the statement might be in relation to the next Apex Legends Heirloom, if any. Since Loba doesn’t have an Heirloom yet, and there’s been no news of this season’s Heirlooms yet, the natural assumption is that Moy Parra, an animator usually involved in motion capture for Apex Legends, was involved in bringing the Loba Heirloom to life.

Just hours after a long-time Apex Legends dataminer revealed what appears to be an unreleased tutorial trailer, another discovery has been made–and this one has some very interesting narrative implications. The leak appears to show a page from an unreleased chapter of this season’s story, and the contents are nothing short of electrifying.
All leaks should be analyzed with some skepticism, but the leaker has an excellent track record when it comes to accuracy, so it is quite possible that the leak is indeed legitimate. There are massive spoilers ahead, so don’t read any further if you’re trying to avoid them.
The leak in question displays a page from this season’s story arc in which Wattson is having a very interesting conversation with Mila Alexander, the adopted sister of Crypto (and technically, Caustic). Mila has been missing for years, after she and Crypto discovered an algorithm that could potentially rig the Apex Games. When the Syndicate became aware that the siblings had uncovered their dirty little secret, they went nuclear, kidnapping Mila and framing Crypto–real name Tae Joon Park–for her murder.
Want to know what the latest Apex Legends heirlooms are? Heirloom sets contain three cosmetic items: a melee weapon, a banner pose, and a quip, and they’re essentially the rarest cosmetics in the game. There are multiple ways to unlock heirloom sets, but it all boils down to opening Apex Packs, which are primarily earned by leveling up in the battle royale game. So yes, this does mean you have a higher chance of getting an heirloom set if you spend real money.
It’s worth noting that the Apex Legends Season 14 update increased the level cap to 2,000, finally making it possible to unlock an heirloom for free. Prior to this update, it was impossible for players to unlock additional Apex Packs once they reached the level cap. Here’s everything you need to know about Apex Legends heirlooms, including how to unlock them, which Legends have them, and what heirloom set is coming out soon.

Recent changes to the early game pacing have left Apex Legends players wishing for a little more calm before the storm, with fans of the battle royale game saying that season 14 changes to the Ring are causing them to spend more time running than fighting. Apex Legends season 14 is off to a roaring start, pushing the FPS game to a record Steam concurrent player count with the arrival of new Legend Vantage and her adorable bat companion Echo.
Among the other changes introduced in the season 14 update, which launched on August 9, were some hefty tweaks to the Ring mechanics. Much like its battle royale counterparts, the Ring in Apex Legends gradually closes in on a certain point on the map, slowly forcing players to move closer and closer to one another and forcing engagements to happen. Anyone who moves outside the Ring will take constant damage over time, starting at a low value early in the match but increasing dramatically with subsequent shrink periods to ensure that players are forced to move.
Season 14 introduced three key changes to the Ring. Firstly, the ‘preshrink time’ – the amount of time after a round begins before the first ring starts closing – has been reduced from 180 seconds down to 60 seconds. The closing time on each map has been slightly increased, by about 20 seconds on most maps and by 50 seconds on World’s Edge. Finally, the damage caused to players outside the Ring during its first period has been increased from 2hp to 3hp every tick (equivalent to every 1.5 seconds), bringing it in line with the second Ring period.

In case you didn’t see the sneaky League of Legends leaks that slipped out yesterday, you may be surprised to hear that the jungle role is set to undergo some major changes during the 2023 Pre-season. This includes aids for jungle pathing, jungle camp leashing, and jungle pets which appear to be the answer to stale itemisation in the role.
According to the official release for this update, jungle was a role that was actively avoided by a significant number of players. While the goal apparently isn’t to dumb down the role, some areas of difficulty are being reworked to remove this barrier of entry and allow for greater skill expression in other areas.
Let start with the pets – by a large margin the most brow-raising addition to the role. While the folks at Riot Games aren’t giving up details on how exactly these will work, we know they’re an answer to the bland blue smite / red smite itemisation. This is being added to make the process of killing jungle camps a bit more exciting – rather than make it a practice of dull minion farming.
