Bungie knows it “missed the mark” with Destiny 2: Lightfall
Not every Destiny 2Destiny 2: Lightfall player was happy with the latest expansion, and Bungie has acknowledged it “missed the mark” in some places.
While Destiny 2: Lightfall was obviously a quite highly anticipated expansion for the online shooter, not every fan was happy with how things turned out. As noted in a new blog post from Bungie discussing the launch of Lightfall, the expansion still brought the “highest number of concurrent players in years,” despite all of the criticisms, and brought in more new, returning, and daily active users than last year’s The Witch Queen. However, in the same post, Bungie also acknowledged it “missed the mark on some of our goals and needed to make updates based on constructive feedback.”
In turn, Bungie will be making some adjustments to hopefully smooth things over, writing that it’s “refined the goals for seasonal resets. Players should be able to represent their accomplishments across a whole season, and those who’ve previously completed a Guardian Rank should be able to renew that rank quickly in the next season.”

Bungie addresses Destiny 2 Lightfall criticism with sweeping changes
Even Destiny 2 Lightfall criticism couldn’t stop millions of players from enjoying the game’s most recent expansion in the popular FPS game, which suffered from negative feedback regarding its shallow campaign, gruelling difficulty, all-new Guardian Ranks system, Commendations, and Lost Sector drop rates. However, Bungie has taken that feedback to heart in a new blog post led primarily by Destiny 2 game director Joe Blackburn, which addresses nearly every major player complaint since Lightfall’s launch.
The update highlights major adjustments to Guardian Ranks, reveals plans for Exotic focusing, explains recent difficulty causes and adjustments, shares changes based on feedback regarding Nightfall score ranking, and even promises that players will soon be able to grant Commendations for player swag.

Destiny 2 PC player count nears records despite Lightfall criticism
The Destiny 2 monthly PC player count is at its highest since the game’s Shadowkeep content launch that included a swath of new content for free-to-play players, according to data from Steam Charts. This high count may be surprising given the mixed reception to the FPS game‘s recent Lightfall expansion, which debuted just over a month ago.

Destiny 2: Lightfall Update Fixes Invisible Guardian Bug, Reduces Commendations For Guardian Ranks
A new patch for Destiny 2 has gone live and addresses a number of issues that have popped up since the start of the Lightfall expansion. One of the big changes in this update is an adjustment to the Guardian Ranks system, as Bungie has reduced the required Commendations score needed to climb up the ranks according to its patch notes.
The number of Commendation points needed was criticized by the Destiny 2 community for being excessively high, and Bungie previously mentioned that it would lower the requirements to complete objectives across all Guardian Ranks. Players can no longer offer Commendations to others following a failed mission activity, so if you’ve been spawning into the Wellspring with a fireteam and wiping out your squad with self-inflicted rocket launcher attacks, you won’t be able to farm Commendations any longer.
One of the other big issues affecting Destiny 2 was a problem that caused Guardians to become invisible due to them not being rendered correctly in the game, giving some players an unexpected advantage in PvP. This bug, which resulted in a delay to this season’s Iron Banner, has now been fixed just in time for the return of this week’s Trials of Osiris multiplayer event.
