CULTURE Club singer Boy George has dubbed himself the ‘Lion Queen’ as he touches down in Australia ahead of his appearance on I’m A Celeb.

Shortly after landing George told The Sun: “I’m here to do a version of the Lion Queen.”
Asked if the mask will be staying on inside the camp, he said: “Let’s hope so.”
When pushed on whether he would eat any creepy crawlies in the jungle or if he was simply a “vegan lion”, he added: “I’m a Lion Queen, I have told you,” before insisting: “I love all creatures.”
The singer, who scored huge hits in the 1980s with Karma Chameleon and Do You Really Want To Hurt Me, also confirmed he would be meditating on the show which will start with 10 celebrities.

Presenters Ant McPartlin, 46, and Declan Donnelly, 47, touched down this week as the show returns Down Under for the first time in two series following the Covid pandemic.
Speaking about Ant and Dec, George said: “I love them both.”
The 61-year-old is now heading to quarantine ahead of the show’s first episode on November 6.
ITV execs are delighted by the A-list signing and hope the eccentric star will be TV gold in the jungle.
George, whose full name is George Alan O’Dowd, smiled as handlers and security ushered him through the airport to a waiting vehicle.
A telly source said: “Boy George is a real coup for producers, there is a lot of excitement in-house at ITV.
“The singer is renowned for his dry wit and frank delivery, he is always outspoken and will be hilarious value in camp, hopefully regaling viewers with his showbiz stories about his famous friends.
“While George is well acquainted with Australia after living in Sydney for several years, he has no experience of the Outback, so will be like a fish out of water living rough.”

George, who became a highly successful club DJ following his pop career, joins the stars who have already arrived on the Gold Coast including radio DJ Chris Moyles, Love Island’s Olivia Attwood and the show’s first ever royal Mike Tindall.
It has been previously been reported that the committed vegan won’t be forced to eat insects on the gruelling programme and will be given meat-free alternatives at camp meals.
Earlier this year, George was a guest on Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Take-away and told the duo the idea of eating meat put him off, saying: “Unless you do a vegan version and then I’m in.”
And speaking in 2016 the singer, who is renowned for wearing signature hats, revealed he turned down the survival series several times due to strict campmate uniform and lack of food.
He said: “There would be serious clothing restrictions in the jungle.
“I’d have to get certain hats made and I couldn’t get over the food. I would have a problem with that.”
He was close to starring on Celebrity Big Brother, but revealed last year he was talked out of it by his mother Dinah.
We previously told how the stars have been given mental health MOTs to make sure they don’t crack under the pressure cooker atmosphere of the show.
This included divulging any previous mental health issues and admitting to any booze and substance abuse problems.
George has had well-publicised struggles with drugs in the past including with heroin and cocaine.
However, he has forged a successful television career in the last decade most notably as a judge on talent show The Voice both in the UK and Australia.
The campmates – including Corrie star Sue Cleaver and Loose Women star Charlene White – have all undergone strict processes.
They were checked to see if they could withstand the stress of being sleep-deprived, the pressure of the team trials and being apart from their loved ones.
Celebs were asked about their fears, phobias and anxieties and what triggers problems or episodes.

An ITV source revealed: “The screening takes place before contracts are signed.
“The processes evaluate someone’s ability to cope in the show. It doesn’t matter that someone is famous – they are still human and with the same frailties as the rest of the population.”

Disney Dreamlight Valley’s next big patch is coming soon, with The Lion King’s Scar being introduced
Disney Dreamlight Valley is the simulation title from Gameloft that drops you into a world with fan-favourite Disney characters, and it’s proving to be quite the hit. After having spent some time with the game, I found myself to be pleasantly surprised by just how relaxing it all is.
I’ve never had a strong affection for Disney, but there’s something rather satisfying and wholesome about Disney Dreamlight Valley that sees me continually picking it up. That said, the Disney Dreamlight Valley Twitter has recently shared a string of tweets about its next update, and it appears that big things are coming.
First things first, the next update for Disney Dreamlight Valley will introduce one character I do remember not being too fond of as a child, and that’s Scar from The Lion King. He’ll arrive as part of the first content update, alongside plenty of bug fixes.

Disney Dreamlight Valley Toy Story and Lion King expansions revealed
Disney Dreamlight Valley Toy Story and Lion King expansion content has been revealed for the Animal Crossing like game following its release on Steam Early Access and PC Game Pass. The new arrival is already looking to claim a spot among the best life games on PC, and Gameloft lead producer Manea Castet describes the potential pool of Disney characters as “an almost unlimited source of creativity” for the team to work with in an interview following the Disney and Marvel Games Showcase on September 9.
“There are many, many Disney and Pixar movies that are great, with great characters,” Castet says in an interview with IGN. “We have many, many plans to expand the roster and add additional characters, additional stories, and so on.” Fans will certainly be excited about the potential roster of famous faces and magical places that might be on their way to Dreamlight Valley in the coming months and years.
Castet continues, describing one addition that fans can expect to see soon that involves the magical doors in the Dream Castle at the heart of Dreamlight Valley. “Behind each door there is one Disney film – so it’s a little bubble inspired by a Disney or Pixar movie, where you will meet these characters, have fun, solve some mysteries and puzzles. When you’ve finished, they come into your valley and have their own little story in the valley also.”

The Lion King Prequel, Mufasa, Isn’t What You’re Expecting
Two years ago, news that Oscar-winning filmmaker Barry Jenkins was making a prequel to The Lion King made everyone scratch their heads. What the heck would that be and who asked for that? Well, finally, at the D23 Expo, Jenkins showed up to explain what it was about Mufasa: The Lion King that makes it unique.

‘Beast’ review: Idris Elba kicks lion butt in fun survival thriller
Whether or not you’ll enjoy Beast depends on how you answer the following question: Do you want to see Idris Elba punch a lion? If your answer is yes (and it should be, let’s be honest), then Beast is 100% the movie for you.
Beast does indeed feature Idris Elba punching a lion, but it’s also got a whole lot more going for it. In the mood for killer tension, immersive set pieces, and compelling family drama? Watch Beast. Searching for the perfect adrenaline rush blockbuster to wind down your summer? Watch Beast. Do you just really want to see Idris Elba punch a lion? (Okay, I may have already mentioned that a few times, but it bears repeating.) Anyway, watch Beast.
‘Orphan: First Kill’ review: A cunning horror prequel with dark laughs and its own sick twist
Beast gives us high-stakes man vs. lion action
Beast stars Elba as Nate, a recently widowed doctor on a vacation to South Africa with his daughters Meredith (Iyana Halley) and Norah (Leah Jeffries). They’re staying at a nature reserve run by family friend Martin (Sharlto Copley), who introduced Nate to his late wife. For Nate, this trip is an opportunity to reconnect with Meredith and Norah. They resent him for how he handled the separation from their mother, and for how he handled her later illness.
What starts as a gorgeous safari into the South African bush quickly becomes a nightmare when Nate, Meredith, Norah, and Martin cross paths with a bloodthirsty lion. This is no ordinary lion: He’s on a rampage against humans to get revenge on the poachers who murdered his pride. (Don’t think too hard about this — what matters is that the lion is angry and that a whole bunch of badassery is about to go down.)
Director Baltasar Kormákur casts a suspenseful spell with his use of long tracking shots as we follow our heroes through the bush. There’s a constant sense of movement and immersion throughout the film, whether we’re trailing Nate through an abandoned village or searching for the lion in the undergrowth. The reliance on tracking shots can make the transitions to static shot-reverse-shot conversations feel jarring, but overall they do their job and they do it well.

And then there’s the lion, a stalking, snarling CGI beast that holds up visually throughout the film. It lurks out of frame, or sometimes in the background, biding its time before it can come back and come after Nate and his family again. It probably helps the lion that his prey are almost consistently making unwise decisions — everyone stop leaving the car! — but the film’s core cast sells every less-than-great choice hard. Sure, Beast has the occasional struggle with clunky dialogue — a discussion about “anti-poaching” is such obvious foreshadowing for a later moment that lands with an awkward thud — but you’ll still be cheering by the time Elba punches. That. Lion.
Idris Elba goes dad mode
Elba is fully in protective father mode for this entire movie. His evolution from “dad having trouble relating to his kids” to “badass action hero who will face down a lion for his daughters” is a blast to watch. It’s made all the better by the film’s earlier scenes, where he mourns his wife and tries to connect with Norah and Meredith.
Halley and Jeffries do great work as Nate’s daughters. Halley nails the balance between Meredith’s fear and her attempts to remain calm in the face of danger. And Jeffries is a ray of light as Norah, delivering some of the film’s funniest lines. Together with Elba, they create a portrait of a dysfunctional yet loving family, and we can’t help but root for them to make it out of the bush alive.
With its core plot of “hunter vs. hunted,” Beast makes for a perfect double feature with this summer’s brilliant Prey. Both are character-driven adventures through the wilderness. Both explore themes of survival and familial bonds. And both feature nail-biting tension and well-executed suspense. Beast scratches the blockbuster itch in a similar way to Prey, and it’s just an all-around good time at the movies. There’s no better way to end your summer than that.
Beast is in theaters Aug. 19.
