Paramount+ has released the official trailer for Star Trek: Picard‘s third and final season, giving us a look at the titular Starfleet Admiral’s (Patrick Stewart) ongoing refusal to retire. Jean-Luc Picard will encounter two new characters played by Ed Speleers and Todd Stashwick on his continued space treks. However, much of the cast from Star Trek: Picard‘s past two seasons won’t be returning, including weirdly human Borg Queen Agnes (Alison Pill), weirdly human android Soji Asha (Isa Briones), and weird Romulan Elnor (Evan Evagora).
Elnor’s departure in particular seems like a pretty big waste considering Picard already went through the trouble of resurrecting him in the Season 2 finale. But at least we know Starfleet Academy’s resident Space Legolas is still out there somewhere.
Season 3 of Star Trek: Picard will premiere on Paramount+ Feb. 16.
Star Trek: Picard was represented at the Paramount+ event for the Television Critics’ Association today, but not much news was shared about the series—unsurprisingly, since it kicks off its third and final season next month. Or does it? Despite what it clearly says on the new poster seen below, Jean-Luc Picard himself…
If you’ve seen the Season 3 trailer for the Paramount+ original series Picard, you might have been surprised to see Star Trek: The Next Generation’s resident Klingon warrior, Worf, isn’t quite as ready for a fight as he once was. Instead, he now prefers pacifism to war, which is quite a shocking change.
But, for those expecting a Worf that shies away from fights to search for only peaceful solutions, that’s not going to be happening. “Well, I think it’s important that he’s not really pacifist,” showrunner Terry Matalas explained during the Television Critics Association press tour panel for the show. “He prefers pacifism, but he does have a giant anime-sized sword.”
For Michael Dorn, the actor behind the character, though, this is a logical evolution for Worf. “He’s always been looking and searching through The Next Generation, Deep Space [Nine], and the movies for who he is,” Dorn explained.”And that’s the one thing I wanted to impart to [the writers and producers].”
