The Sims 4 Growing Together adds some much-needed spark to Sims’ relationships
Last week, I attended a hands-off preview for The Sims 4‘s upcoming Growing Together expansion pack and its supporting free base game update. This was obviously a real treat for me as RPS’ resident Sims fanatic, but I’ll admit I went in with my expectations parked in neutral. After all, the theme of this new-content duo is young families, and that just isn’t part of the game I engage with too much these days.

Darkest Dungeon 2 Relationship Skills Guide – How To Form Positive Relationships
The Darkest Dungeon II Relationships mechanic might seem like a trivial element compared to the stress that your heroes can suffer, as well as quirks and other debuffs during combat. But if you’re not careful about the current Affinity Levels of your party, they can soon start turning against each other, leading to various annoying moments. Learning how to use this mechanic in your favor is key to making the most out of each expedition, and of course, managing to survive longer.
After the release of The Void Between Us update in January 2023, Relationships have been iterated quite drastically. As a mechanic that previously cause some debate in the community following the early access period, the latest tweaks should be more than welcome if you also thought that some of its randomized elements didn’t quite work in its favor. This guide explains everything you need to know about Relationship Skills in Darkest Dungeon II, as well as the best ways to form positive relationships amongst your crew.
How to form relationships in Darkest Dungeon II
Relationships and Affinity go hand in hand. Your Affinity Level between characters is going to determine the types of relationships they can form, either positive or negative. After the release of The Void Between Us update, relationships can now only form at the Inn. In exception for the first one you visit after the introductory trip on your bandwagon, each subsequent visit to future Inns will result in different pairings.
The best dating apps for hooking up, serious relationships, and everything else in between
This content originally appeared on Mashable for a US audience and has been adapted for the UK audience.
Online dating is now the norm. “We met on Tinder” is the new “we met in a bar.” And this isn’t going to change any time soon.
Countless children have been born to parents who met via an online dating app like Match or eharmony, and according to eharmony, more than 50% of couples will meet online by 2031. They would say that, but it’s understandable given online dating’s popularity.
The only real problem with online dating is that there are so many services out there to consider. With so many options on the table, it can be difficult to know where to find the best crop of potential lovers. Each dating app will have features that will matter differently to you depending on your lifestyle, what you are actually looking for, and what’s most important to you. Looking for Ms. Right? Or perhaps just Mr. Right Now? It’s helpful to know how each dating app is different so that you can surround yourself with people who want the same thing as you.
What are the benefits of using a dating site?
Dating sites and apps allow you to get your information out there to a massive network of like-minded individuals. Plus, you can save a lot of time, energy, and cash by testing out a potential relationship on an app before actually meeting. We know that some dating apps can be expensive, but just think about all those wasted coffees you could avoid by chatting through an app first.
Should you use free dating apps?
There are a lot of free dating sites and apps out there, and the likes of Tinder and Hinge are seriously popular options with massive networks of users. Plus, most of the biggest and best dating sites have free versions with limitations on certain features. So yes, you can easily enter the online dating game without spending anything. There are levels to this game though, and sometimes free apps just don’t cut it.
This won’t be a surprise to hear, but you get what you pay for with dating sites and apps. For the best experience with the greatest possibility of finding exactly what you’re looking for, you are going to have to cough up the cash. We’re sorry to break it to you, but the best dating sites don’t come cheap.
What is the best dating app?
Whether you’re looking for something super specific or have tried every app on the market, we have put together a handy guide that breaks down what the deal is with each of these online dating experiences. We have lined up a selection of your best options for finding love, finding a hookup, and more, including leading services like EliteSingles and AdultFriendFinder.
These are the best dating apps in 2023.
Best gay dating apps for hookups, relationships, and everything in between
Most people have at least one horror story about online dating. It’s a rite of passage that single people love to hate.
But the horror stories look a little different for members of the LGBTQ community. On top of the classic awkward Hinge date anecdotes and screenshots of a corny bio seeping with secondhand embarrassment, gay singles deal with all sorts of alienating interactions. Baseless questioning of sexual history, harassment, and fetishization — some of it coming from cis straight people who shouldn’t have popped up in your feed in the first place — don’t exactly give one butterflies.
Still, dating apps have become crucial means of introduction for gay folks looking to settle down. A 2019 Stanford study and 2020 Pew Research survey found that meeting online has become the most popular way for U.S. couples to connect — especially for gay couples, of which 28 percent met their current partner online (versus 11 percent of straight couples).
But the Pew survey also dredged up those ugly experiences with harassment. This could be where options that bar heterosexual users, like HER and Grindr, come in. Their perfectly-tailored environments are so well-known in the gay community that they’re essentially in a league of their own.
Is Grindr the only option for gay dating apps?
Though Grindr and HER are big players, they’re not alone in the queer dating app market. Apps like Zoe, Taimi, and Scruff exist. But their plateauing popularity can be attributed to similar complaints: too many scam profiles and too few legitimate users (ones within a reasonable distance to plan a date, anyway). Chappy was a promising app for gay men that shut down just as it was gaining serious traction.
And at the end of the day, “everyone” apps are simply where masses of queer users are. Keeping Tinder on the back burner isn’t just a straight people thing, especially for those who live in less-populated areas where Grindr and HER offer slim pickings. Plus, some mainstream apps do deserve credit for the steps they’ve taken to create a more inclusive atmosphere. Tinder, Bumble, and Hinge now offer lots of sexual orientation and gender identity options. OkCupid gets kudos for making that change years ago, as well as making social justice a core part of compatibility scoring — which kind of self-curates the type of people on the app.
If you’re part of the LGBTQ community and hate leaving your home, you’re not alone. Here are the best dating apps and sites that’ll maximize your opportunities while minimizing your human contact. Bless.
Todd Howard says Starfield will let you get into “more complex relationships”
Romance has never been Bethesda’s strong suit, from Skyrim‘s barebones marriage system to Fallout 4‘s bonus-XP-granting fade-to-black cutscenes. Starfield will be a little more nuanced than that, suggests executive producer Todd Howard, offering more complex romance options than Fallout’s.
That’s just one detail from a nearly 3 hour-long interview Howard gave on the Lex Fridman podcast, where he also talks scrapping space strandings, and (gasp) why he prefers to play on consoles to PC.
As remote work gains favor, employees’ relationships to their jobs are in flux: Report
New research from the visual collaboration platform Miro has found that employees’ relationships with their work are in a state of flux, with a large majority of knowledge workers questioning where they want to work, the bonds they want to build with colleagues, and what they need and want from their job.
Having surveyed 2,053 knowledge workers across North America about their relationship with work, Miro found that while 90% of workers don’t want to be in the office full time, current hybrid workers are less likely to say their relationships with co-workers have improved, compared to before the pandemic.
