Oxytocin’s Reputation as the ‘Love Hormone’ Might Be Overrated
New research Friday might complicate the perception of oxytocin as the so-called “love hormone.” Scientists have found that prairie voles that were genetically bred without oxytocin receptors can still mate with others and breastfeed their children—behaviors long closely linked to the hormone. While oxytocin is still…
Google Execs Warn Company’s Reputation Could Suffer If It Moves Too Fast On AI-Chat Tech
At a recent all-hands meeting, employees raised concerns about the company’s competitive edge in AI, given the sudden popularity of ChatGPT, which was launched by OpenAI, a San Francisco-based startup that’s backed by Microsoft. “Is this a missed opportunity for Google, considering we’ve had Lamda for a while?” read one top-rated question that came up at last week’s meeting. Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai and Jeff Dean, the long-time head of Google’s AI division, responded to the question by saying that the company has similar capabilities but that the cost if something goes wrong would be greater because people have to trust the answers they get from Google.
Pichai said at the meeting that the company has “a lot” planned in the space for 2023, and that “this is an area where we need to be bold and responsible so we have to balance that.” Google, which has a market cap of over $1.2 trillion, doesn’t have that luxury. Its technology has stayed largely in-house so far, Dean told employees, emphasizing that the company has much more “reputational risk” and is moving “more conservatively than a small startup.” “We are absolutely looking to get these things out into real products and into things that are more prominently featuring the language model rather than under the covers, which is where we’ve been using them to date,” Dean said. “But, it’s super important we get this right.” He went on to say “you can imagine for search-like applications, the factuality issues are really important and for other applications, bias and toxicity and safety issues are also paramount.” Dean said the technology isn’t where it needs to be for a broad rollout and that current publicly-available models have issues. Pichai said that 2023 will mark a “point of inflection” for the the way AI is used for conversations and in search. “We can dramatically evolve as well as ship new stuff,” he said.

I’m 23 and seem to attract a lot of male attention – especially from the bad boys.
The last time I kissed someone I shouldn’t have, it was my best friend’s bloke.
Now he’s really chasing me and I don’t know the best way to give him the brush-off.

You’re right to be concerned about your reputation but, more importantly, you may lose some good friends.
Responding so readily to the attention of others suggests you may have low self-esteem.

Original Bayonetta Actress Releases New Statement to ‘Defend Myself and My Reputation’
Bayonetta voice actor seeks to “defend myself and my reputation” in update to claims of lacklustre pay
Former Bayonetta voice actor Hellena Taylor has elaborated on her original series of videos and claims regarding her absence from Bayonetta 3’s lead VO role, which appears to confirm findings made by Jason Schrier at Bloomberg last week. This includes confirmation that she was indeed offered $15,000 initially, rather than the originally implied $4,000 figure.
This update comes from a Twitter thread posted to the actor’s Twitter, in which she states that she “feels the need to defend myself and my reputation”. She states that the claim she was offered $4,000 for five sessions were “total fabrications”, as well as continues to encourage supporters to boycott Bayonetta 3 as it nears its October 28 release date.
This statement, seemingly trying to refute claims made by Bloomberg, seems if nothing else to corroborate the reporting. One point in the piece, which claims that she asked for a six figure payout for work on the game, seems to be faux-disputed by Talyor, who states that she had been informed of ridiculous fictions, such as I asked for 250,000 dollars”, a figure not reported on by Bloomberg.

Pattie Ehaei gave tips to anyone who may not know how to act in an office setting[/caption]
“For those of you going back to the office, or for those that have never worked in an office I’m gonna give you some tips so you don’t embarrass yourselves,” she said.
Her first tip involved dressing for success.
“Don’t wear anything to work that you would wear to the pool, to the gym, or to the club,” the business lady said in the video.
Next, she recommended keeping your phone on silent so you don’t disturb anyone else who may be trying to focus.

“No one wants to hear your phone ringing off the hook or the constant ding, ding, ding from your texts,” she said.
Her next tip also involved being conscious of how noisy you are as she said it’s important to always use headphones.
Ehsaei said there’s nothing more annoying than being forced to listen to someone else’s music when you’re trying to work, so keep the tunes to yourself.
In order to be a welcome office guest, the TikToker also said it’s important to make sure you’re clean.

“You want to make sure that you’re cleaning up after yourselves in common areas like the kitchen,” she said.
“I always know that one person who leaves a mess, and nobody likes that person.”
It’s also important to make sure your workspace is clean because that could say a lot about who you are, the expert hiring manager explained.
“A messy desk tells people that you’re not organized, and it will ruin your reputation,” she said.
Finally, the etiquette boss said under no circumstances should you ever gossip about your coworkers.
“Do you understand that gossiping about a coworker can actually get you terminated because that coworker can report you to HR?” Ehsaei said.
She explained that someone could say you’re creating a “hostile work environment” if they discover you were talking behind their back.
“So these are some tips for going back to work. I hope they help you out and help you not embarrass yourself,” the etiquette expert said.
This comes as another etiquette pro has revealed five rules on how to act after a job interview to land the gig.

A handwritten note the next day saying thank you for the opportunity is another way to make a great impression, she explained.

When this is the case, job seekers who have not heard from the interviewer by the specified time should follow up with a courtesy phone call asking if a decision has been made.
“It’s perfectly acceptable during the interview to ask when told to expect a decision,” she said.
