It’s been a long time coming. So long, in fact, that it’s personally quite hard to believe this is real and not just another leak. Revealed during Konami’s Silent Hill Transmission today, a remake of one of the most prolific games in the horror genre — Silent Hill 2 — has been announced.
The remake is currently being developed by Bloober Team, as previous rumours and leaks suggested. The developer is behind horror titles Layers of Fear and The Medium, which are both perfectly average, and makes me glad I toned down my expectations a tad before jumping into the transmission. I guess we can now all be relieved that those leaks can be laid to rest at least.
Masahiro Ito, creature designer for Silent Hill, Silent Hill 2, and Silent Hill 3, (also art director on both 2, and 3) is finally back on board, too. With Ito, the creator of Pyramid Head himself on board, this remake already shows some promise. Let’s now just hope that Bloober Team can pull this out the bag.

Silent Hill F Is A Brand-New Game In The Franchise From Resident Evil Re:Verse Dev
During the Silent Hill Transmission today, Konami announced the next core game in the Silent Hill franchise: Silent Hill F, which will be developed by Resident Evil Re:Verse developer Neobards Entertainment.
The game’s story will be penned by famed Japanese writer Ryukishi07, the author of the When They Cry visual novel series. Motoi Okamoto, who previously worked at Nintendo from 1998 to 2007, has been named a producer on the project.
The trailer shows a girl standing over what looks to be a memorial of some kind, which is adorned with red and pink flowers. The video then shifts to a town overrun by red vines, which slowly take over a Japanese village and attempt to capture the girl. The final scene shows the same girl floating on a small boat after being overtaken by the mysterious plants, who then looks at the screen and sheds a single tear before her face falls off of her head.

Silent Hill: Townfall Teaser Trailer Revealed
As part of October 19’s Silent Hill Transmission, a new entry in the Silent Hill series has been revealed. Silent Hill: Townfall is a collaboration between Konami, Annapurna Interactive, and the BAFTA award-winning No Code studio. While the conference featured a short teaser trailer, not much has been revealed about the upcoming game. However, No Code creative director Jon McKellan stated the game respects the Silent Hill franchise, while doing “something a little bit different” with the series’ source material.
Alongside Silent Hill: Townfall’s reveal, Konami shared a short teaser trailer of the game. The clip consists of a series of gruesome images and videos displayed on a CRTV pocket television. In the background, a man coldly demands to know why the listener is here. The listener then replies, “to be punished,” though the speaker doesn’t seem entirely convinced. The trailer ends with a flash of a man in glasses before revealing the game’s title card.
Though the trailer was fairly hard to decipher, McKellan alluded to possible Easter eggs hidden within the short video. Following the teaser trailer, McKellan stated, “it might be worth watching that trailer again and seeing what you might have missed.”

Konami taps Layers of Fear developer Bloober Team to revive Silent Hill 2
Silent Hill 2 Film Adaptation Is Coming From Original Film’s Director And Producer
A new movie entitled Return to Silent Hill is upcoming from the creators of the original 2006 film. The movie is an adaptation of Silent Hill 2 and is currently in production.
In the Silent Hill Transmission, Rui Naito, assistant producer at Konami and lead of IP and cross-media development for Silent Hill, described the film as the “catalyst” for new Silent Hill games. Victor Hadida, producer of the original Silent Hill films, reached out to Konami with a proposal to make a new film. This brought on the urge to revive the franchise to coincide with the creation of the new film. Christophe Gans, who directed the original film as well as cult classic Brotherhood of the Wolf, is set to direct.
During the broadcast, Gans said, “[Silent Hill 2] is much more about psychological horror even if we are going to find again all the same creatures and the same terror sequences.” Over and around the interview, storyboard panels and concept art for the new film is shown. Much of the displayed art consists of scenes from the game. Hadida said that, “there is a clear idea from Christophe to make it modern, but also very true to the video game…Christophe is really somebody that respects the work that has been done, but that also has his own vision.”
