AMD is reportedly prepping to launch its next-gen Ryzen Threadripper 7000 ‘Storm Peak’ CPUs in the second half of this year. The news comes from Asus’ general manager in China, Tony Yu, who also claimed that the upcoming lineup will be based on the new TR5 HEDT platform.
This is the most expensive AMD Ryzen CPU you can buy, which as you might suspect is also the fastest and most powerful Ryzen CPU currently in existence. Not even upcoming Zen 4 CPUs will change that.
For the record-setting run, Taiwanese overclocker TSAIK paired the processor with an MSI WS WRX80 motherboard and 128GB of Corsair DDR4 memory. A low-end Nvidia GeForce GT 640 graphics card was chosen for the run because a powerful GPU isn’t necessary for this type of test.
