THE brother of Moors Murders victim Keith Bennett has blasted the amateur sleuth who sparked the massive dig.
Cops began excavating an area of Saddleworth Moor last week after an author came forward claiming he found a grave.

Russell Edwards told officers he had discovered a fragment of skull and an upper jaw with teeth, sparking a week-long search.
It was hoped the huge breakthrough could finally crack the riddle that has plagued police for nearly 60 years.
But police called off their search for Keith on Friday after finding no evidence of human remains.
And Keith’s brother Alan Bennett, 66, said he has been left with a “feeling of anger and pain”.

In a lengthy post on social media, he wrote: “I’m just left with a feeling of utter contempt for him and his actions and I know the rest of Keith’s family feel the same, along with anger and pain.
“Will he apologise for the anguish, anger, hurt and distress caused by his thoughtless publicity-seeking actions?”
In the angry post, Mr Bennett adds: “Why would there only be a fragment of jaw bone left of Keith, considering the condition of the other victims that were found?”
“Does he always have a camera crew and photographer with him? Or was it just by pure chance and coincidence that they were with him on his supposed find?

“What makes him think that a team of highly trained professional forensic archaeologists, scene of crime officers, a botanist, a facial features expert, lab technicians, another team of officers walking the moor both in front and behind his supposed find searching the ground and drone operatives […] could not find what he is supposed to have found?”
Tragically, Keith’s mum Winnie died without ever being able to bury her son.
Ian Brady and Myra Hindley snatched Keith on June 16, 1964, as he made his way to his grandmother’s house.
He was strangled and buried on Saddleworth Moor by the depraved duo but his body has never been found.
A spokesman for Mr Edwards told the Sunday Mirror he “totally understands” Mr Bennett’s frustration and anguish.
He added: “However, he remains convinced that he has found the true location of the grave and is commissioning further scientific analysis of his evidence.
“Until he has concluded his ongoing research, he feels it would not be productive to continue debating the issues in public.”
Edwards told police the skull is believed to belong to a child aged around 12 with a child’s upper jaw with a full set of teeth.
Detectives were also focusing on a sample of material believed to be clothing that was buried 3ft under the remains.
How evil couple horrified nation with Moors murders
The twisted duo then embarked on a gruesome reign of terror that saw five children slaughtered.
Hindley would often lure the children in before driving them to Saddleworth Moor or the pair’s home.
Brady would then kill them often by throat slashing or strangling.
Four of the five victims were sexually assaulted as well as murdered.
They were also beaten, abused and gagged and made to pose for photographs.
The five victims were:
- Pauline Reade, 16
- John Kilbride, 12
- Keith Bennett, 12
- Lesley Ann Downey, 10
- Edward Evans, 17
The reign of terror came to an end in 1965 when Brady invited Hindley’s brother-in-law and friend, David Smith, round to their home.
The monster then murdered Edward Evans – striking him fourteen times with a hatchet before finishing the job by strangling him – while Smith looked on in horror.
Under the pretence of helping them hide the body, Smith left and phoned the police next morning and directed them to Brady’s address.
On October 7, 1965, Superintendent Bob Talbot of the Cheshire Police arrived at the back door of 16 Wardle Brook Avenue and arrested the killer after discovering Edward’s body.
Over the course of the next few weeks, officers unearthed more evidence linking the couple to unsolved disappearances.
A huge search operation involving 150 officers was launched and on October 16, they found an arm bone sticking out of the ground belonging to Lesley Ann.
They discovered the badly decomposed body of Kilbride five days later.
On June 30, 1987, the body of Pauline Reade was found buried 3 feet below the ground after Brady finally admitted to her murder.
The author explained to police he had recovered a fruit stone, clothing material, hair and “what he described as decaying body tissue”.
After viewing a photograph and the samples provided, the area was secured by detectives so a forensic archaeological excavation could be carried out.
DCI Cheryl Hughes said the search for Keith “will not be closed until we have found the answers his family have deserved for so many years.”
She added: “The excavation and examination at the site is complete and, to reiterate, we have found no evidence that this is the burial location of Keith Bennett.”
Keith was lured into a van by Hindley, who drove him to a lay-by on the Moor.
Brady then took him away to sexually assault and murder him while Hindley kept watch.
Keith’s family have fought ever since to recover the little lad’s remains.
After he was transferred from prison to maximum-security hospital Ashworth in November 1985, Brady confessed to Keith’s murder in an interview.

A search was carried out on the moors a year later, with Hindley joining officers in 1986 and Brady in 1987.
But Keith’s body was never found and it became a grisly secret Brady took to the grave.

Who was Jeffrey Dahmer victim Jeremiah Weinberger?
Jeremiah Weinberger was famously known as one of Dahmer’s victims.
A native of Puerto Rico, he resided in Chicago in the 1990s and was working as a customer service representative for a video store, according to USA Today.
“He loved art and was very meticulous,” his roommate, Tim Gideon, recalled.

“His desk was always straight, and he knew where everything was. He always dressed nice and always worried about what he wore and how he looked.”
Weinberger was last seen on July 6, 1991.
What happened to Jeremiah Weinberger?
Just days after Dahmer killed 20-year-old Matthew Turner, he met Weinberger in Chicago.

The two then took a Greyhound bus to Milwaukee to spend the weekend together.
However, Weinberger’s weekend getaway quickly went south after Dahmer drugged him and injected boiling water through his skull.
The injection put Weinberger into a coma and he died two days later.
Who were Jeffrey Dahmer’s other victims?
Dahmer’s killing spree began on June 18, 1978, when he took the life of Steven Hicks.
While Dahmer might be known for his cannibalistic killings, Hicks was one of the few victims that he didn’t eat.
It was not until he moved from Ohio to Wisconsin that he began eating the flesh of his victims.

Moors Murderers victim Keith Bennett’s brother fears dig is at wrong location
MOORS Murderers victim Keith Bennett’s brother fears police are digging for his body in the wrong place.
A child’s skull was said to have been found on Thursday near where the serial killers’ other victims were discovered.

Police are continuing the search after having to briefly pause it due to weather conditions[/caption]
But cops have yet to find Keith’s remains and Alan Bennett, who has campaigned for decades for answers, said he fears his brother was not buried there.
The forensic search on Saddleworth Moor, near Manchester, resumed yesterday after it had to be halted on Friday when winds reached 60mph.
Keith, 12, was snatched by Myra Hindley and Ian Brady — who killed five kids in the 1960s — as he walked to his grandma’s house.
He is the only victim not found.

Alan, 66, wrote on Facebook: “In my last contact, I was told nothing had been found on the moor and they are about 3ft down with the excavation.
“Apart from believing this is the wrong location for Keith and all the previous graves have been shallow, why, if the police were taken to the location, has nothing been discovered?”
The dig began after amateur sleuth Russell Edwards said he had found an upper jaw.
A geologist said soil analysis had revealed signs of buried bones.

Family of rollercoaster crash victim, 26, in coma with ‘horrific injuries’ slam online trolls after cruel abuse
THE family of a rollercoaster victim who was horrifically injured and is fighting for her life have slammed online trolls after being hit with cruel abuse.
Shylah Rodden, 26, remains in a coma in critical condition after the tragic accident which unfolded at the Royal Melbourne Show in Australia on Sunday evening.
Shylah Rodden, 26, is fighting for her life after the accident in Australia[/caption]
And while her family sit heartbroken at her bedside, they’re fighting online trolls[/caption]
Her dad says she has been left brain damaged with horrific injuries after she was said to have been dragged nine metres into the air before she plunged to the ground in front of horrified visitors.
But, as Shylah’s loved ones rally around her broken body in hospital, they are also battling online abuse.
Her sister Caisha told the DailyMail: “It’s sad and disgusting to see the false stories and cover up when my sister is fighting for her life.”
Online trolls have coldly blamed Shylah for the tragedy, after police and show organisers said she had been hit while trying to retrieve her mobile phone.

One man wrote under a news story about the tragedy: “Serves herself right for going where she is not supposed to be going.”
Another said: “It’s not a freak accident, when she was somewhere she wasn’t supposed to be.”
Many of the comments were so cruel the press has chosen not to publish them.
Caisha said the rumours were causing even greater pain to her family who are already struggling to cope.

She said: “Definitely misinformation regarding the accident, which is really sad and causing more distress for our family.
“Shylah is in critical condition and we won’t know more until later today as we will be discussing with police and giving some eye witness statements.”
Her father, Alan Rodden, said mystery still surrounds how Shylah was hit.
He said: “There are a lot of stories going around and I don’t know which one is true and if someone is covering their tracks.”
On the day of the tragic accident, paramedics treated Shylah for serious facial injuries at the scene before rushing her to hospital in a critical condition.
Alan said his daughter will be in a coma for quite a while.
He told the Daily Mail: “The injuries are horrific. Horrific. She’s brain damaged. It’s pelvic, her arms, legs, back, neck – there’s hardly a thing that’s not broken.
“I just can’t work out how the hell so much damage has been done.
“Even the doctors have said they haven’t seen anything as bad as this for a long time.”
‘Loud bang and screams’
Caisha had said Shylah was working at the show when the horrific event unfolded.
She said: “She was helping out her friend at her stall for the day and she was sent on her break with another worker and they decided to go on a few rides to kill time and this happened unfortunately.”
One show attendee, Nathan Sanders, said he saw something fall from the corner of his eyes and heard screams.
The 18-year-old said: “Me and my friend were like ‘what the hell was that?’
“They were quite quick to act, they put up the barrier quite quickly and then there was an ambulance down and the crowd gathered around and they started pushing people away saying nothing happened… but obviously at the end of the day you don’t want to scare people.
“There were huge crowds of people.”
Another eyewitness said: “She flew from the ride, loud bang. Followed by a scream and very loud crack of her hitting the ground.”
A stall owner at the show said she heard the rollercoaster suddenly come to a screeching halt as people starting screaming.
She told The Herald Sun: “The screaming was so loud. I think everyone must have been really scared.
“The ride went up like normal, then there were screams, then it stopped and stayed that way for ages.”
‘Tragic accident’
On Monday, CEO of the Melbourne Royal Show Brad Jenkins said it was a “tragic accident that shouldn’t have happened”.
Mr Jenkins said: “From our understanding, there was a mobile phone at the base of the Rebel Coaster that she dropped on the ride and she went back to recover the mobile phone.
“Regrettably, she was tragically struck by the cart coming down.”
He also clarified that the incident was a “tragic accident, not a malfunction of a ride,” and that the rides were safe for public use.
However, speaking to ABC Mornings on Monday, Mr Jenkins refused to speculate as to whether the ride was cordoned off by a fence, and how Shylah accessed the base of the Rebel Coaster.

He said: “I can’t comment specifically on that particular ride. There [are] operators down at each of the rides.”
Investigations by WorkSafe are ongoing, however, the ride could be reopened to public as early as Tuesday.

Elon Musk’s Starlink satellite internet might be a victim of its own success
Elon Musk’s satellite internet service has hit a bump in the road after building up momentum for the first half of the year.
Starlink, the ISP arm of SpaceX, saw its speeds worldwide slow down as the service gains in popularity, according to internet speed measurement company Ookla’s latest quarterly report. (Note: Ookla and Mashable are both owned by the same parent company, Ziff Davis.) In every country Ookla tracks (such as Canada, the U.K., the U.S., and New Zealand), Starlink’s median download speeds have dropped, year-over-year, from the second quarter of 2021 until now.
Credit: Ookla
The drops ranged from 9 percent to 54 percent, depending on the country, but the news isn’t entirely bad for Musk and his satellite internet project. For instance, the median download speed for Starlink users in the U.S. at its lowest point in the last year was around 60Mbps, which is more than enough for the average person’s daily internet diet. That said, it’s still a good deal lower than the 90Mbps figure that was recorded in June. The U.S. speed was the lowest in these latest measurements, as other countries like New Zealand and France recorded median speeds of around 100Mbps, an excellent figure by satellite internet standards.
The easiest explanation is that the service is likely buckling a bit under the pressure of a user base that’s getting bigger over time, as noted in Ookla’s report. Starlink surpassed 400,000 global users in May and recently started rolling out service on Royal Caribbean cruise ships. A bunch of users reported surprise price drops back in August, too, which could somewhat account for the uptick in subscribers. The system will be put under even more stress in late 2023 when some T-Mobile customers get the ability to connect to Starlink’s satellites via their mobile devices.
If Starlink can maintain decent speeds under that much growing pressure, it’ll be one of Musk’s most successful ventures in years.
