Messi won the World Cup and the internet went BONKERS
An absolutely bonkers World Cup final has come to a close. It was the best and wildest World Cup match in memory. It was the best game I’ve seen in sports, period. There is no description too strong. In the end, Argentina won the 2022 final in Qatar on penalties, cementing the legacy of Lionel Messi, one of the greatest soccer players to ever do it.
All the while, the internet could not believe it, with everyone losing their collective mind for three hours. Here’s the short breakdown of what happened:
Argentina dominated most of the match in regular time. Messi scored on a penalty in the 23rd minute. Angel Di Maria followed it up with a tidy finish in the 36th minute. It seemed like Argentina and the GOAT Messi would coast to the title. Nope.
Enter France and superstar 23-year-old Kylian Mbappé. He scored on a penalty in the 80th minute then followed it up with a spectacular volley just a minute later. It was a total shocker and absolute brilliance from the French.
It was already an unbelievable match. From there, the game got even more nuts. It was watching two teams hold on for dear life. France attacked, Argentina countered. Argentina attacked, France countered. Messi nearly won it all with a brilliant strike, that was just parried away by the French keeper. But into overtime, we went.
In extra time, it was Messi who struck in the 108th minute. He slammed home a bouncing ball, surely securing the win. Nope. Because THEN, in the 118th minute, a handball from Argentina awarded a penalty, which Mbappe slammed home. And off to penalties we went.
In penalties, Messi and Mbappe both scored to lead their teams off. But then France missed twice and Argentina was perfect, taking home the title 4-2 on penalties. There has never been a game like it.
When the match ended, emotions ran high. Argentina fans cried. So did the French. People celebrated and felt joy for Messi, who finally achieved the one thing that eluded him in soccer. The tweets, too, were fantastic when the match ended.
It was a fantastic match and one that will live on with fans for years to come.
I won $100,000 on the lottery after thinking my ticket was worth $100 – I had it tucked in my wallet for a month
A LOTTERY winner who thought she had only scooped $100 tucked the ticket away in her wallet for a month – only to realise she had won $100,000.
Katrina Nicholls and her husband Ernest have played the lottery for more than four decades.
Ernest and Katrina Nicholls thought they had only won $100[/caption]
After buying a Lotto Max ticket, Katrina said she decided to scan the ticket using her phone.
“We’ve tried our hands at all the games over the years,” she said.
“I was at home when I checked the ticket on the app. I thought the win was for $100 at first.”
Happy with her windfall, Katrina decided to put the winning ticket aside and planned to cash it in at another time.
“I tucked it in my wallet for a month,” she explained.
But when she checked it again, she was stunned to realise she had actually won $100,000.
The couple, from Ontario, had matched the last six of seven numbers in the exact order in the September 9 Lotto Max draw and had won $100,000.
Katrina said: “We didn’t believe the $100,000 prize amount until today when it was confirmed at the prize centre. This is our first big win.
“I feel incredible gratitude.”
Her husband Ernest said he was “still numb” after the huge win, Daily Hive reports.
The couple said they plan to use the cash to enjoy their retirement – and to spoil their grandchildren.
The winning ticket was bought at The Bargain Centre on Main Street in Markdale.
It comes after a car wash manager who used to earn just £330 a month scooped a massive £7million after buying a ticket on his birthday.
Kathar Hussain saved up his tips from customers to buy the winning lottery ticket.
He was on holiday in India, where his family live, when he struck lucky in the UAE’s Big Ticket Draw.
The huge £7million prize is the biggest in the competition’s 30-year history – making Kathar one of the biggest ever jackpot winners in the UAE.
He said he would split the life-changing cash with his friend Devaraj – who he collected tips with to buy the ticket.
Another lottery winner was left “shaking” after realising he made a huge mistake as he checked his £80,000 winning lottery ticket.
And another winner scooped a whopping £1.5million using the same number combination she’s used for years.
I won £460k on the lottery using tried and tested method – here’s how you can too
A STRUGGLING pensioner who won £460k on the lottery has revealed her tried and tested method to winning big
Dosta Andonoska, known as Dolly, has been playing the lottery for almost 45 years after “tirelessly believing in luck”.

She always picks the same basic combination of numbers[/caption]
The grandmother – from Kichevo in North Macedonia – always picks the same basic combination of numbers, but changes the final digit.
And her tried-and-tested method finally paid off.
The Macedonian state lottery announced: “Our winner came to the premises of the State Lottery with the electronic confirmation of the payment of her lucky numbers.
“The win is confirmed; that’s it, our 27th lotto millionaire. The winning numbers are 2, 10, 11, 12, 24, 36, 37.”
Dolly – who lost her job through bankruptcy – won nearly 33 million denars – Macedonia’s local currently. It is equivalent to about £460,000.
The nan’s advice to other lottery hopefuls is believe that you’ll win and it will come true.
She plans to use the cash to help her family get set up for life.
Meanwhile, one lucky teenager scooped a cool $1 million on a lottery scratchcard just two weeks after his grandfather predicted he would.
And a lucky lady was left ecstatic after winning £200,000 on a scratch card after she’d been sent to the shops to pick up beer.
