Former Army officer Max Hauptman covers a peculiar phenomenon heralding the “Modern UFO Era.” Not only were the Allies concerned about “foo fighters,” but after WWII it was learned that Axis fliers had also encountered the puzzlers. Both Keith Chester (Strange Company: Military Encounters with UFOs in World War II and Graeme Rendall (UFOs Before Roswell: European Foo-Fighters 1940-1945) have written on this subject. Eyes on Cinema presents another classic look at UFOs in Frank Edwards Presents Flying Saucers–Serious Business, 1966. Edwards was an enthusiastic and popular though many suggest not terribly accurate UFO proponent. And here’s an ill-known but dramatic case from California’s Central Valley: Was a Kerman [CA] Police Officer Burned by a UFO in 1978? by Manny Gomez mines Kevin Randle’s 2015 The UFO Dossier for a case reminiscent of Stefan Michalak’s more famous 1967 Canadian Falcon Lake incident, and with possible independent corroboration. Corroboration is itself the question as Vicky Verma reports that Neil Armstrong Confided Italian Journalist That UFOs Observed Them Insistently On Moon. Verma tells several stories of NASA astronauts’ similar statements, interspersing them with other interesting tales and a vintage appearance of the Apollo 11 crew before the entire press corps of the Republic of Italy.
