Roswell icon Tom Carey is Kevin Randle’s guest for a two-part interview. The 1947 New Mexico crash and search for its witnesses naturally command most of the first segment. Tom and Kevin note that most investigation isn’t the simple, “linear” kind “As Shown On TV,” but more often a series of dead-ends and occasional positive surprises. The second interview delves into other areas, both of intense interest and less glamor to Tom. The latter include UFO abductions, as Kevin explains in his summary article. In this concluding segment Tom expands upon his new projects. First, he’s researching a controversial theory that Franklin D. Roosevelt baited the Japanese into attacking Pearl Harbor, thus drawing the U.S. into World War II. Second, Tom explains how a long-time interest in Sasquatch mutated into a documentary on a local (to him) “dog-man” phenomenon. Kevin also discusses Cattle Mutilations from the Other Side of the Fence with Chris O’Brien. Chris thinks aliens are the least likely culprits behind the 20% of animal mutilation cases he studied that resist “ordinary” explanations. He also has a different “take” on the “1897 Alexander Hamilton aerial cow-napping” story from Jerome Clark and much of the rest of ufology. Chris and Kevin share perspectives on several other cattle-mute-related areas. (WM)
