This month brings with it the 25th anniversary of the superstar’s 1997 sophomore album ‘My Way’ and, to mark the occasion, Usher is releasing a special incarnation of the LP.
Christened ‘My Way 25th Anniversary Edition,’ the set features the original 7x Platinum album in its entirety, as well as three new reimagined versions of ‘My Way,’ ‘Nice and Slow,’ and ‘You Make Me Wanna.’
The refreshed tracks, which see Ush team with producer Ryan James Carr, are said to have influenced the sonics of his blockbuster appearance on Tiny Desk. A showing that now sits at 11 million views.
Per LaFace Records and Legacy Recordings, the re-release will be supported by a mini-documentary named ‘Usher My Way Reimagined.’
Set to premiere on September 16 (along with the album itself), the YouTube special (which is directed by Dolapo Sangokoya) will feature Ush musing on the creation of the project and what it inspired for the future. Indeed, the performer notably has named his latest Las Vegas residency after the album. The likes of Jermaine Dupri and other instrumental to ‘My Way’ are also set to appear.
