‘Monster’s Ball’ star Halle Berry is seeing racism rear its ugly head yet again thanks to a crew of mistaken tweets that assumed she was set to portray princess “Ariel” in the highly anticipated live-action remake of the Disney classic, ‘The Little Mermaid.’

Friday (September 9), Disney offered quite the surprise at their “D23 Expo” when they unveiled the first teaser trailer of the May 2023-due remake starring Halle Bailey.
While many flooded the starlet’s social media handles with praise, there were the disheartening, yet expected critics who slammed the media giants for casting a woman of color as the classic mermaid.
What was not expected was that Academy Award-winning actress Halle Berry would be fielding some of those criticisms.
Among the tweets weighing in on the perceived potential of the 56-year-old playing the princess, one now-deleted tweet in particular caught her eye.
“Halle Berry is nearly 60 playing the role of a 16-year-old girl. This is what happens when you upset a fandom,” the post said.
In response, Berry let a meme do the talking for her.

Fans of the elder Halle know this isn’t the first time she’s fielded commentary for being incorrectly attached to the prized role.
It likely won’t be the last time either.
