On the latest iteration of the Billboard 200 chart, Sawayama’s ‘Hold The Girl’ album debuted at #166. As a result, it has become her first time entering the chart.
Previously, her debut album – ‘Sawayama’ – garnered critical-acclaim, but failed to chart in the United States.
The news of her first charting album in the country comes after it was announced that Sawayama became the highest-charting Japanese artist in the history of the UK Charts (as we reported here).
‘Hold The Girl’ was acclaimed by critics upon its release, who complimented the songwriting as well as the overall theme of the project.
It was preceded by the singles: ‘This Hell,’ ‘Catch Me In The Air,’ ‘Phantom,’ ‘Hold The Girl,’ and ‘Hurricanes.’
