Dahmer–Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story has proven to be a viewing powerhouse for Netflix. According to Variety, the Ryan Murphy-created true-crime series has clocked more than one billion viewing hours within 60 days of its September 21 debut.
So far, only two other titles in Netflix’s library and launch history have achieved this feat: Squid Game and Season 4 of Stranger Things, earlier this year. Variety is further reporting that Dahmer’s debut week saw the show rack up 3.7 billion minutes on Nielsen’s charts, a figure that represents the 10th biggest streaming week ever since that third party started tracking streaming. Another recent plaudit for Netflix: Wednesday recently became Netflix’s most-watched show in a single week with 341 million hours for the week of November 21-27.
Although originally intended as a limited series, Monster was renewed for two additional seasons in November. The show will shift from focusing on Dahmer to an anthology series where each season will follow “other monstrous figures who have impacted society.”
