Nicki Minaj has done it!
With a career as illustrious as the Rap royal’s, there are few milestones that the superstar had yet to clear.
However, uniquely a solo #1 single on the Billboard Hot 100 was one of them.
That changed moments ago because Onika’s latest effort ‘Super Freaky Girl’ has flown straight in at pole position.

Fuelled by feverish support from her ever-loyal Barbz, as well as a mid-week Roman’s Remix, the Dr. Luke-produced ‘Girl’ has premiered at #1 and made history in the process.
For, Minaj has scored her first solo #1 with the biggest first-week sales by a female artist in 2022.
Onika’s previous chart-toppers came in the form of guest appearances on Doja Cat’s ‘Say So’ remix and 6ix9ine’s ‘Trollz.’ Both of which she achieved in 2020.
Prior to now, the femcee came closest to a #1 solo with ‘Anaconda’ in 2014, which peaked at #2.
So, how do the numbers stack up? Well, the track managed the feat with the following U.S stats in its debut week on the tally:
- 21.1 million streams
- 4.6 all format radio impressions
- 89,000 digital downloads
The news comes as excitement intensifies for Minaj’s upcoming studio album (her first since 2018’s ‘Queen’) and ahead of her receiving the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.
