Social media remains in an uproar after Kanye West‘s Yeezy Paris Fashion Week Show on Monday (October 3) saw the controversial rapper unveil a new line of custom tee shirts with the phrase “White Lives Matter” printed on them.
Rocked by fellow celebrities Candace Owens, Selah Marley (daughter of Lauryn Hill and Bob Marley‘s son Rohan), and others, the shirts garnered quite the backlash despite West’s attempt to classify them as “revolutionary art.”
Hours after the GRAMMY winner took to the net to defend the Yeezy tees as a response to the “scam” that was the Black Lives Matter movement (as we reported here), Selah has done the same.

Taking to Instagram Tuesday night (October 4), Selah shared a statement in response to the backlash she’s received for wearing the White Live Matters apparel.
“The past 24 hours as allowed me to realize that most of yall are stuck in a hive mentality,” she began the post. “You do what the group tells you to do and think what the group tells you to think. Witnessing someone break free from ‘the agenda’ sends you all into such a panic that you will do whatever it takes to force them back into the box that you feel they should exist in.”
Later in the story post she suggested the outrage has bordered on “bullying,” an action she does not intend to tolerate.
“You cannot bully me, manipulate me, or coax me into silence. Nor will you bully me into being who I don’t want to be,” she said. “I don’t care how many tweets you make, DMs you send, or articles you write.”
Concluding that the decision to wear the shirt was done with “deep thought and intention,” Selah suggested she will speak more on the topic at a later time.
Her comments come amid continued criticism for her alignment with West’s ideals – a stark contrast from the messages of Black empowerment her GRAMMY-winning mother and late grandfather proclaimed over their careers and lives.
