‘All N My Grill’ hitmaker Missy Elliott found herself getting grilled after what appeared to be an innocent interaction with her 7 million followers turned into an all-out war.
See how inside.
Taking to the social media platform Wednesday morning (August 24), the 51-year-old quizzed readers on their thoughts about what differentiates a hit from a classic.
And while the general question led to thousands of responses as commenters weighed in and justified their answers, some – namely Nicki Minaj fans (affectionately called #Barbz) – took the inquisition as a slick diss to the ‘Super Freaky Girl’ rapper who is currently enjoying her first solo run atop the Hot 100.
Look below to see some highlights of their responses.

Missy Elliot is salty cause Super Freaky Girl debut #1 & Nicki’s name is next to Lauryn Hill. Why wasn’t Missy asking what a classic or hit is when Bodak Yellow or WAP went #1? She’s giving bitter & jealous. pic.twitter.com/OpPUrWNjlh

As the comments continued to flood in, Missy clarified her initial post came from a ‘positive place’ and was not a diss directed at any particular person.

Elliott’s slamming comes just two weeks after she shared a lovefest with Minaj for becoming the second female rapper to be awarded the Michael Jackson MTV VMA Video Vanguard Award.
