Ne-Yo‘s latest album, the July 15-released ‘Self Explanatory,’ may log his first LP to miss the top 40 of the Billboard 200 upon its debut, but that’s certainly not stopping the singer-songwriter from attempting to turn the tide on its success narrative.
Undoubtedly dominating headlines as of late for more personal matters than professional (see: looming divorce, accusations of infidelity, etc.), Ne-Yo (born Shaffer Smith) is looking to bring the focus back to his music by releasing another single from the ill-fated opus.
Titled ‘Layin Low,’ the single features rising R&B artist Zae France and sees the two trade verses about a good girl who’s gone bad after getting a taste of the city life.
“You in L.A, but ain’t layin’ low / You out that way just to gas you up / Oh girl, I know you out there / You ain’t like that, no
You in L.A, but ain’t layin’ low / You ain’t layin’ low (’cause you outside),” they croon on the cut’s chorus.
Hear the song in full inside and peep it’s accompanying music video.
