In what comes as little surprise, ‘Surprise’ singer Chloe Bailey has learned her banging debut solo single, ‘Have Mercy,’ has crossed the Platinum threshold at the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
Taking to press Tuesday (August 2), the RIAA reported ‘Mercy’ – the lead single from Bailey’s forthcoming debut solo album – has been certified Platinum, a measure that denotes sales equivalence of 1 million units in the United States.
Becoming her first solo Platinum plaque from the organization in the process, ‘Mercy’ earns Chloe her second career certification overall as it follows the September 8, 2021 announcement the Chloe x Halle hit ‘Do It’ also did it.
Released September 10, 2021, the Murda Beatz-produced bop peaked at #28 on the Hot 100 – not only landing her first mention in the tally’s top 40 but also boosting excitement for its yet-titled parent project (which Chloe announced is finished).
The effort is expected to include ‘Mercy’ follow-ups ‘Treat Me’ and ‘Surprise.’
