Many of these have gone viral on social media with motorists stunned with what their car had to offer.
These nifty tricks might just save you some time as well as money.
And it may well mean that you never get caught lacking in a tricky situation on the road.
Here are 10 of the best secret features you never knew your motor had.
Skoda Superb umbrella

The hidden umbrella in the door has long been a revered feature of every Rolls-Royce car.
But you don’t have to own a high-end luxury motor to have a special touch like this.
Skoda added a compact foldable umbrella to the door of their Superb saloon, meaning you’ll never get caught in the rain unprepared again.
Key fob hack

A little-known feature in your key fob is very handy for motorists[/caption]
This key fob hack could save you a fortune if you ever get locked out of your car.
Many drivers don’t know that pulling off the top of your key fob will reveal a hidden key inside.
You can use this special key pop off a section of the driver-side door handle, revealing a secret key hole.
The key can be used to manually unlock and start the car if the electronic fob fails.
Different models of cars have different features but most have one similar to this.
Some key fobs have a button that causes the key to flick out on top of the fob while others have the key hidden within.
Drivers are advised to check their vehicle’s manual if in doubt.
Nissan ‘curry hook’
![](https://www.thesun.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Nissan-Curry-Hook.webp?strip=all&w=960)
First introduced in the Nissan Almera back in 1996, the famed “curry hook” started life as a handbag or shopping bag hook.
But drivers quickly found it was best used to keep their takeaway from spilling on the way home from the local curry house – and the media loved it.
The ingenious feature is still used in current Qashqai and X-trail models.
Volkswagen Golf gear knob
![](https://www.thesun.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Volkswagen-Golf-GTI-Golf-Ball-Gear-Shift.webp?strip=all&w=960)
One of the most popular small cars ever made, the Golf GTI comes with a feature you may not have noticed.
Every model has a golf ball in place of the gear knob as a subtle nod to the model’s name.
The feature was voted the most iconic in CitNOW’s poll.
Vauxhall Corsa bike rack
![](https://www.thesun.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Vauxhall-FlexFix-Bike-Rack.webp?strip=all&w=960)
Rather than have to add an ugly metal frame to the back of your car, Vauxhall came up with the idea for an integrated bicycle rack in their Corsa model.
Hidden behind the number plate, the FlexFit system slides out the back of the small hatch, and can hold two bikes.
All you have to do is lift a handle in the boot, attach the spare brake lights, load up your bikes and you’re away.
Honda magic seats
![](https://www.thesun.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Honda-Magic-Seats.webp?strip=all&w=960)
To maximise storage space, Honda came up with their folding seat solution.
First introduced in the Jazz – and the Civic later on – the rear passenger seats fold all the way up to make room for bulky items.
With the bottom of the seat out of the way, you essentially have a second boot inside your car.
Citroen perfume dispenser
![](https://www.thesun.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/DS-3-Perfume-Dispenser.webp?strip=all&w=960)
There’s no need for a dangling tree air freshener with Citroen’s unique feature.
Their DS 3 model already has one built-in to the car, and lets you choose any scent you like.
You can add your own perfume to the system and control the intensity as you wish.
Renault boot chute
![](https://www.thesun.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Renault-Modus-Boot-Chute.webp?strip=all&w=960)
Another driver parking right up behind you can be frustrating if you need to open your boot.
But with Renault’s boot chute feature, you can access rear storage even in tight spots.
The special hatch comes with the Modus model and can make life easier for busy shoppers.
Volkswagen Beetle vase
![](https://www.thesun.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Volkswagen-Beetle-Vase-Cabrio-dash.webp?strip=all&w=960)
Volkswagen’s special feature could be the oldest of the bunch, dating back 50 years.
Every Beetle model comes with a small vase behind the steering wheel.
It means drivers can add their favourite flower to liven up the dashboard – or use it as a pen holder for the shopping list.
Petrol cap hack
![](https://www.thesun.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/tiktok-users-shocked-secret-place-789933943.jpg?strip=all&w=334)
Some drivers may be pleasantly surprised to find a petrol cap hack[/caption]
Last but not least, some motorists may also be surprised to learn that their car has a hidden feature to make filling up fuel a lot easier.
When you unscrew your petrol cap, you can place it on a handy slot fitted into the flap.
The nifty trick then keeps the cap out of the way while the driver fills up with petrol.
However, not every make and model has this feature but a good number of motors do including the Nissan Juke.

We knew there was a rift between Harry and William – but now we know just how deep it runs
I knew Prince Harry years ago & he loved Charles – but after his memoir betrayal he’s unrecognisable, biographer says
PRINCE Harry’s biographer says he is unrecognisable compared to the man she once knew.
Angela Levin spent fifteen months with the Duke when she was writing Harry: Conversations with the Prince in 2018.

Harry has change beyond recognition, Angela Levin said[/caption]
![](https://www.thesun.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/10191692-6c65-4f4b-bcc3-f7bf60207ed7.jpg?strip=all&w=803)
But following the release of Harry’s explosive memoir Spare, Ms Levin says the once “intuitive” man who “understood people” is long gone.
The Royal Family expert told The Sun: “He’s completely different in every possible way.
“How many betrayals can you have? It’s one after the other.
“It’s a betrayal, it’s a huge betrayal.”
Ms Levin added how she believes Harry’s views of his father King Charles have changed markedly, too.
She said: “I remember him saying about his father feeling the loss [Diana] just as they were, in a slightly different way, he’s been there to look after us and protect us.
“He and William put on a birthday party, Harry was full of praise [about his father].”
Ms Levin went on to address allegations from Harry that Prince William attacked him during an argument about Meghan Markle.
Analysing the claim, leaked days before the book’s UK release, she said: “He wants to believe that he’s 100% in the right and his brother is 100 per cent in the wrong.
“Of course he’s trying to take them down.”
Other salvos launched at The Firm in Spare was that Harry accused Camilla of leaking stories to the press.
And the Prince even claims she launched a campaign to marry Charles to get the crown.
We can reveal in Spare that Harry claims:
- William jabbed his finger at Meghan during a row over comments she made about Kate’s “hormones”
- Describes Kate as “wide-eyed” and grabbing her seat while demanding an apology from Meghan
- That his brother warned him that a relationship with an “American actress” would go “wrong” and branded Meghan “difficult” and “rude”
- Harry accuses William of grabbing him by the collar and breaking his necklace knocking him to the ground and cracking his back on a dog bowl
- Reckons William and Kate were upset they never received a present for Easter
- Accuses Kate of making Meghan cry over a bridesmaid fitting
- William was jealous that Harry had approval from the Queen to wear a beard at his and Meghan’s Royal Wedding
- Kate “grimaced” and was “taken aback” when Meghan borrowed her lip gloss
Harry also alleges William jabbed his finger at Meghan during a row over comments she made about Kate’s “hormones”.
And the Duke accuses Catherine, the Princess of Wales, of making Meghan cry over a bridesmaid fitting.
Amid a torrent of allegations – revealed by The Sun after we got hold of a copy in Spain – Ms Levin believes there is now no way back for Harry.
She explained: “How Harry thinks he could get his family back after being so rude and callous is [beyond belief].”
The Sun has translated text from the Spanish edition after the original biography was written in English, therefore the quotes may not be exact.
Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams shared similar concerns as he focussed on Harry’s relationship with Charles.
He told The Sun Online: “Charles now has some real dilemmas.
“To ask him to go ahead with a business as usual approach when you’ve had this? What does Charles do?”
The royal expert said that despite them being invited, most Brits would not see it “appropriate” to have Meghan and Harry at The King’s May 6 Coronation.
Mr Fitzwilliams warned: “It would retract from the dignity of the occasion.
“If you trash it, as Harry is doing it quite ruthlessly, then I don’t think they should be invited.”
Prince Harry will sit down with ITV’s Tom Bradby at 9pm on Sunday for his latest interview.
Spare hits shelves in the UK on Tuesday January 10.

Dementia has taken dad I knew away – it’s better for him to die
DEAR DEIDRE: I KNOW it is wrong to want your own father to die, but I desperately want his suffering to end.
My dad is 89. He is old but coped until he caught Covid.
In such a short period of time the cheerful, cheeky dad I knew has disappeared.
In his place is a thin man who doesn’t recognise me.
Dementia has taken him away.
I am his 64-year-old daughter.

He can’t walk more than a few metres without falling and is now in a care home.
He really wanted to die at home and the one thing he feared the most was going into a home.
I feel as though I’ve let him down.
Is it so wrong to want him to give up the struggle?

I’m a restaurant worker, if you knew the gross things that happen behind closed doors you would never want to eat out
A RESTAURANT worker has revealed some of the grossest tactics used in kitchens – and they may put you off your food.
TikTok user @Tequila.9 reeled off a list of ways servers and pot washers will keep things looking clean at surface level.
![](https://www.the-sun.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/6/2022/12/Screenshot-2022-12-26-212144.png?strip=all&w=490)
TikToker Tequila.9 made a series of shocking claims about working at a restaurant[/caption]
They include everything from scraping dishes with nails to changing the dates on food to make it appear as though they are in date.
And to make matters, worse, diners would never know about the techniques themselves.
Making the claims in a TikTok video, Tequila.9 said: “I promise the fork you’re eating with came out of the washer with spinach on it that just got rinsed off.
“I promise you that the table you’re eating off only got wiped down with a stank kitchen rag that was wet from dirty dishwater.
“I promise that whoever set your table was scraping crust off your plate with their nails immediately before you used it.”
She added: “And I’m willing to bet that if the health department showed up to the restaurant you’re eating at right now, everybody in the kitchen would be going crazy in the walk in fridge changing all the dates on the food.”
Viewers were quick to comment, with many other workers backing up the claims.
One person said: “I promise you that she’s telling the truth LMFAOOO.”
Another wrote: “It’s the same everywhere. It’s why I won’t work at my favorite places. I choose to be blissfully UNAWARE.”
Someone else added: “All these are 100% facts I’ve worked at numerous restaurants.”
Others, however, disagreed, with one person insisting: “This isn’t all restaurants.
“I’m a server at one place and bartender at another. Neither place is like that.”
Someone else said: “I can’t relate to this at all. The place I work at is the immaculate.”
A third wrote: “I’m so glad to work at a restaurant that don’t do this.
“This is the cleanest restaurant I’ve ever worked for and I love it.”
