Xbox has an embarrassing Square Enix problem
Xbox, to hear Microsoft tell it, is losing. This has been the crux of its argument to persuade the world’s regulatory bodies to approve its acquisition of Activision Blizzard, something which would bring the likes of Call of Duty, World of Warcraft, and perhaps most pointedly King’s suite of mobile games, including Candy Crush, under the Xbox banner. It’s a huge acquisition, which is why it’s garnered so much attention. But Xbox’s argument is clear: we’re just a widdle guy. We need this. Sony is miles ahead.
And so it is in most territories, honestly. It’s not a mischaracterization of the situation. But one element of the Activision Blizzard acquisition that has always baffled me is the optics of what Xbox gains. Which of Xbox’s problems does it solve?
Yeah, Call of Duty is massive, and would be a huge gain. But it’s not like Xbox doesn’t have access to IPs and have games in development that could shake up the shooter world. Warcraft is likewise a huge tentpole, but Microsoft already has both an MMO and an RTS in Elder Scrolls Online and Age of Empires. These don’t fill a gap.

I’m a redhead – my self-tanner problem is a ‘lifelong struggle’ but people say I’m the ‘hottest circus peanut’ they know
A REDHEAD has admitted her “lifelong” struggle with self-tanner in a popular video.
She showed off her tan gone wrong that still had people calling her the “hottest circus peanut” they know.
Justice Mitchell (@justicebmitchell) is a content creator who enjoys sharing her life as a young mother and wife online.
She keeps it real in many of her videos and shares many random moments in her everyday life.
In a TikTok video, the redhead was transparent about her struggles with applying self-tanner over her naturally pale skin.
To emphasize how she felt about it, she captioned the video: “The lifelong struggle.”
When the video began, Justice sat in front of the camera and was visible from the chest up.
The subtitle read in bright pink letters: “POV: You’re a pale ginger who just wants a tan like the other girls.”
She stood up to reveal that she wore a white button-down shirt with a black T-shirt underneath and denim shorts that showed off her heavily tan legs.
Her stylish look was overshadowed by her “citrus peanut orange” legs as she called them.
To add some humor, the redhead did a quirky dance as the video came to a close.
Many people related to Justice about her self-tan issues, but some also thought her beauty took over.
“I tried self-tanner last year and it just looked like I rolled in dirt,” one viewer shared.
“Never felt something more,” another chimed in.
“You’re the hottest citrus peanut I know!” a fan praised.
“I like it. I think I look hot,” someone shared.

Microsoft Copilot could fix a long-running Office problem
Disclosure: Microsoft is a client of the author.
In a sense, Microsoft Office and I grew up in this industry together. We both entered tech at around the same time, and I was one of its first users — when it had a problem that continues to plague it.
Office was largely built through acquisition, and as a result, it has often suffered from a lack of integration and consistency. While its various parts have grown more similar over the years, even now, I could argue, they aren’t as integrated as Lotus Symphony was because Symphony’s parts came from the same code base.
Integration gives you the ability to have a single interface in a product. You get the individual components necessary to either do a focused project (like a spreadsheet) or a blended document (more like a report) that includes pictures and data that are all updated automatically when new information comes in.

Resident Evil 4’s tank controls were not, and are not, a problem
First thing’s first: tank controls are not necessarily difficult to use. I’ll be the first to admit that, in 2023, they’re not what our brains have been relentlessly programmed to expect from modern games. Yet, with a little patience, stand to shoot mechanics are wholly immersive – something that Resident Evil 4 (2005) would not be the same without.
When I replayed Resident Evil 4 last year, don’t get me wrong, the controls felt off. As someone whose main shooters at the time were PC games (Valorant and Escape from Tarkov), you could argue that getting through the first village was a challenge in and of itself while I adjusted to the controls. But that’s all it is; a matter of adjusting.
In 2023, many would argue the controls for RE4 feel clunky. Even the RE4 Remake feels tanky, despite the fact we can now move and shoot at the same time. That said, this is not a detriment to the gameplay experience. If anything, it’s one small challenge to overcome that later results in an incredibly tense Resident Evil adventure.
