Oliver Dowden will today reveal the alarming flurry of sabotage attempts to ‘disrupt or destroy’ key sectors[/caption]
Cabinet Minister Oliver Dowden will today reveal the alarming flurry of sabotage attempts to “disrupt or destroy” key sectors.
He will say: “Disclosing this threat is not something we do lightly.
“But we believe it is necessary if we want these companies to understand the current risk they face, and take action to defend themselves and the country.”
The top Tory will warn that these Kremlin-aligned groups are “ideologically motivated, rather than financially motivated”, making them even more dangerous.
Britain is one of the world’s most targeted countries for hack attacks.
Mr Dowden, who recently took over responsibility for national investment security, says bosses needed to wise up to sabotage threats.
He will tell the CyberUK conference in Belfast: “These are the companies in charge of keeping our country running of keeping the lights on.
“Our shared prosperity depends on them taking their own security seriously.
“A bricks-and-mortar business wouldn’t survive if it left the back door open to criminals every night.
“Equally in today’s world, businesses can’t afford to leave their digital back door open to cyber crooks and hackers.”
Mr Dowden will also beef up IT defences on government systems and give Whitehall cyber security buffs higher pay.
He will set out resilience targets for all crucial infrastructure for 2025 and bring all private sector firms under new anti-hack regulations.

Ukrainian Hackers Compromised Russian Spy Who Hacked Democrats In 2016
InformNapalm said in an article about the breach that it had confirmed Morgachev’s identity by poring through personnel files and a curriculum vitae stolen by the hackers, including one document that identified him as a department head in Unit 26165 — the same position which the FBI accused him of holding in 2018. […] It wasn’t immediately clear what information the hackers had managed to steal or how significant it was. Morgachev’s inbox could potentially hold insight into Russia’s hacking operations, including the operation against Clinton and the Democrats.
In its indictment, the FBI described him as an officer in the Russia’s military spy agency, still known by its old acronym, GRU. It said his department was “dedicated to developing and managing malware,” including the “X-Agent” spy software used to hack the DNC. In its message announcing the theft, the group said of Morgachev: “A very cool and clever hacker, but … We hacked him.”

YELLOW-GREEN HUMANOIDS Appear in Russian Town After Aerial Event
Was this a case of a craft landing and the occupants disembarking to gather information? ‘Aged men’ with strange yellow-greenish-looking faces appear in a Russian town after light phenomena incident.
The incident to place near Balashov, Saratov region, Russia. During the night local residents noticed four fiery columns of light in the clear northeastern sky. The columns or beams of light were nearby of each other, with blue and white shades. The phenomenon lasted for about 2 hours. After that, the area became dark again and the sky again appeared normal.
Soon after this observation, bizarre-looking strangers appeared in the Saratov region. These “men” looked aged, like elderly men, with strange yellow-greenish-looking faces, and all the men were beardless. These strangers visited several villages but never begged for alms. When the locals attempted to communicate with the strangers they only mumbled in an unrecognizable language that the Russian villagers could not understand. So the strangers were then considered eccentric or crazy (if indeed extraterrestrials, a perfect disguise that did not attract too much attention).
Neither village elders nor district policemen detained the strangers. But as was found out later the strangers aroused the suspicion of local representatives and authorities. The strangers seemed to move very quickly between villages and never stayed one night in any of the villages. But the authorities could never corner or pinpoint the whereabouts of the strangers. All of the strangers appeared to vanish soon after October 6, 1848, when a report was sent to the Ministry of Internal Affairs from the town of Balashov.
This report stated that on the above date at around 2100, there was very bright lighting over the area corresponding with the rumble of thunder which lit the sky. And then at 2200, a blood red colored spot appeared in the center of the sky which was visible for 5 minutes, the spot then took an elongated form, becoming pinkish in color and moving towards the northwest, in half an hour the sky appeared to clear and the red “spot” moved to the west and separated into several dozen cone-shaped columns stretching to the horizon and becoming dark red in color. After that, the north was covered with whitish-red stripes which slowly drifted towards the west. The phenomenon vanished around 2300.

Microsoft sold software to sanctioned Russian companies, says US government
Microsoft has agreed to pay over $3 million in fines for selling software to sanctioned entities and individuals in Cuba, Iran, Syria, and Russia from 2012 to 2019. The US Department of the Treasury says that “the majority of the apparent violations involved blocked Russian entities or persons located in the Crimea region of Ukraine” and that the company will be paying around $2.98 million to the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (or OFAC) and $347,631 to the Department of Commerce. (It settled for $624,013 but will receive a credit for its agreement with the Treasury.)
According to an enforcement notice from OFAC, Microsoft, Microsoft Ireland, and Microsoft Russia failed to oversee who was buying the company’s software and…
