Starfield launch date trailer reveals September 6 release
Starfield will release on September 6 2023, according to a brand new launch date trailer.
In this trailer, not only do we get a cool cinematic teasing some of the space-bound mystery, we also get a quick update from Todd Howard himself, who reveals that a dedicated Starfield Direct will occur on June 11. This will apparently give viewers a “deep dive” on the game, a few months ahead of its launch.
Additional surpises come from the appearance of one Tim Lamb, who was present in the Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Making Of videos back in the day. While this is obviously a marketing video that has been orchestrated with a fine tooth comb, you’ve got to love the Pip Boy statue in the background.
With Baldur’s Gate 3 heading to PS5, could it be a bigger deal than Starfield?
^Stay tuned after the ads for our preview video, full of gorgeous ultrawide footage!
Could Baldur’s Gate 3 be bigger than Starfield? It seems like an absurd proposition. Bethesda, after all, are giants of the RPG world. Skyrim is probably, arguably, the most successful role-playing video game to date, and Starfield promises to be Skyrim in Space. Word of a release date is, naturally, awaited with bated breath. There probably won’t be a more significant release this year. Assuming it’s still coming this year: the radio silence on that front has been deafening, although there are rumours that a Starfield focused showcase is imminent.
But consider: there was a time when the idea that CD Projekt RED could challenge the might of Bioware and Bethesda in terms of cultural impact or Business Done would have seemed daft. But The Witcher 3 is probably on a par with Skyrim in terms of critical, cultural, and financial success. It catapulted a niche series of Polish fantasy novels – popular in their home country but fairly unknown elsewhere – to huge international success, with a Netflix series and everything.
Starfield superfan creates 400+ page document on the game…and it isn’t even out yet
A Starfield superfan has created an online document detailing every known aspect of the upcoming Bethesda RPG, and it’s over 400 pages long. There’s still no word on when the game will actually come out.
The document was created by Gokamo, who was inspired to take on this feat due to his past with Bethesda titles and the sheer amount of content in them. They have spent years building up a central hub with every piece of official information out there.
This includes official Starfield videos, Todd Howard interviews and Q&As, concept art, leaks and official reveals. It’s unbelievablly comprehensive, going into extensive detail as to where each tidbit of information comes from, providing short notes where needed and linking back to original sources.

Sons of the Forest kicks Starfield to the curb to become the most wishlisted game on Steam
Starfield is no longer the most wishlisted game on Steam. That title now belongs to Sons of the Forest.
This is according to SteamDB (thanks, ComicBook), which lists the Endnight Games survival horror as being on 187,986 wishlists compared to Starfield at 183,004.
Sons of the Forest is the highly-anticipated sequel to The Forest, which is a great game, in our humble opinion.
Sons of the Forest beats Starfield to Steam chart top spot
The new survival game from Endnight, Sons of the Forest, has topped the Steam Wishlist chart ahead of even Bethesda RPG Starfield, as we look ahead to scrounging, building, exploring, and fighting for our lives once the upcoming Sons of the Forest release date finally arrives.
