American McGee is still trying to turn his theoretical Alice: Asylum into a reality. The last game in his dark action-platformer series, Alice: Madness Returns, released more than ten years ago, and since then McGee has been funding development through a Patreon which, at the time of writing, currently has 3,192 paying members. In 2021, McGee released the first draft of a script, and now he’s back with a 414-page design bible, the announcement of a partner studio, and an odd plea to EA.

My daughter was killed in a gas blast at home… six months later we are still sleeping on the floor – council don’t care
THE MUM of a four-year-old girl killed when her house exploded says the family are still homeless and sleeping on a floor.
Sahara Salman died when a blast sparked by a gas leak flattened the family home in Thornton Heath, South London, last year.

The August 8 horror forced 500 residents to evacuate but six-months on, the council still hasn’t found a “suitable property” for the victims of the Galpin’s Road horror.
In a statement, the mum of “shining star” Sahara, Sana Ahmad, said her daughter’s death was “a nightmare come true”.
She added: “My daughter lost her life in the very bed where she should have felt safe and secure.”
The single mum slammed Merton Council, saying that despite all they have been through, “we are still homeless and sleeping on the floor”.
The 28-year-old added: “It feels like we’ve been left to fend for ourselves.
“It’s unfair that we are being treated this way and left without proper support.”
In the week leading up to the explosion, residents had complained of smelling gas.
Southern Gas Networks – who later paid £500,000 to rehome displaced residents – were dispatched to deal with the leak on their pipes but never resolved the problem.
A week later, the house exploded, killing tiny Sahara who was only a month away from her fifth birthday.
She was discovered found amongst the rubble of the home.
Her mum said Sahara was in the box room when the blast happened, two other children were with Ms Ahmad in her bedroom and the eldest child was in a room near the garden.
But ever since the fateful day, Sana said the waiting process “feels like torture” and her family have been “left to suffer” as a result.
She told how her three kids and her had “lost everything” and they are still scared to go back to school, MyLondon reported.
But above all, they “miss their sister”.
Council leader, Councillor Ross Garrod, told MyLondon: “Since that tragic day, six months ago, the council has been doing everything it can to support those affected.
“Including Ms Ahmad and her family.”

Reddit is still planning to go public later this year

A literal meme stock may soon be on the way.
Reddit, the popular social sharing platform, has plans to go public later this year, according to a report in The Information.
Back in late 2021, Reddit first started making moves to file for an IPO at a $15 billion valuation. However, many factors — among them the fluctuating markets, inflation, high interest rates, and a downturn specifically among tech stocks — put Reddit’s aspirations to go public on hold in 2022.
However, according to this latest report, Reddit now has its sights set on going public in the second half of 2023, albeit at a much lower valuation. The company was recently valued at $6.6 billion by Fidelity.
If and when Reddit does hit the stock market, it will be interesting to see what its users do. The meme stock trend of 2021 kicked off on Reddit with the subreddit r/WallStreetBets encouraging its members to invest in companies like GameStop and AMC. (And, of course, it should be noted that while some people did make out with a lot of money investing in stocks based on what other social media users are buying up, it didn’t work out for the vast majority of people.)
The meme stock craze didn’t end in 2021 either…at least not on Reddit. For example, Reddit users were still pumping stocks like Bed Bath & Beyond just last summer.
Will Redditors turn Reddit, the meme stock creation platform, into a meme stock itself? It looks like we’ll find out later this year.
