My time with Resident Evil Village Shadows of Rose was all too brief. Yet, despite walking through the familiar halls of Castle Dimitrescu, there’s always a horrifying surprise hidden around every corner. What I played of the Shadows of Rose DLC is just as tense as the early moments of Resident Evil Village, and it honestly left me wanting more.
After rudely interrupting the ‘Masked Marquis’ as his minions overwhelm his latest victim, the new character, Rose, soon becomes his next target. It’s not all doom and gloom, however, as some kind of spirit seems to be guiding her through the Mould-infested halls of Castle Dimitrescu by writing brightly coloured text in thin air. Occasionally, these words will transform into valuable items such as extra bullets or healing spray, just as well as the new monsters were a bit relentless at times.

I’ve always thought each of the sixteen colossi in Shadow Of The Colossus is kinda cute in their own special way. There’s just something about the animal-like antics of those immense, lumbering creatures that make them naturally adorable, even though they wouldn’t hesitate in breaking every single bone in my small, weak body.
Zürich-based developers Stray Fawn Studio totally get what I’m on about, and have created their own lovable rocky giant in their city-building sim The Wandering Village. Their creature, Onbu, is a colossal six-legged beast, and the walking platform on which your village sits, a plateau of flat land mass on its back making for an excellent settlement ground. Onbu is best described as a gentle giant. They move slowly but carefully, love to munch on fields of wild mushrooms, nap in meadows of soft pink flowers, and tuck in their paws and tail when sleeping.
Resident Evil Village players will soon be able to partake in the Winters’ Expansion when it arrives on October 28.
Resident Evil Village Gold Edition, a bundle of the core game and the Winters’ Expansion, releases the same day.
To get the 6.5 million of you who’ve bought the game pumped for the expansion, new footage of the DLC premiered at Tokyo Game Show, and it showcases Ethan Winters’ new animations in Third Person Mode. The video also delved into the mind of the Megamycete, providing a fresh look at Shadows of Rose.
The Wandering Village, a city-building sim where you manage a village perched on a giant beast’s back, will go into early access next week.
Developed by Sweden-based Stray Fawn Studio, the game takes place in a world where mysterious, toxic plants are spreading. You will need to lead a small group of survivors as they seek shelter on the back of a giant beast they call Onbu.
You will need to help the villagers build a functioning settlement and form a relationship with Onbu to survive the hostile world. As you expand the village over Onbu’s back, you will need to utilize the limited space as efficiently as possible.
We PC gaming folk have built cities in different time periods and weather conditions, on a vast array of worlds and even in VR. I don’t think I’ve ever built one on the back of a giant animal after the apocalypse, though. Indie sci-fi citybuilder The Wandering Village will let me do that when it enters early access on Steam on September 14th. See the great lumbering beast for yourself by watching the trailer below.
Announced via Twitter, Capcom has revealed that Resident Evil Village will have a trial available to attendees on the Playstation VR 2 headset.
This particular trial will be available to the public during Tokyo Game Show, and according to Capcom’s website, only a limited number of attendees will be able to spend time with Lady Dimitrescu in PSVR 2, as you might’ve expected. That is if Lady D herself even appears in the particular trial, which is set to feature a part of the Dimitrescu Castle.
That said, it probably wouldn’t be much of a PSVR 2 trial if we weren’t able to experience the nine foot tall vampire tower over us, but only time will tell.
