Rina Sawayama is hot on the promotional trail.
Case in point, she has now stopped by Genius to explain the meaning behind her song ‘This Hell.’

Appearing on their latest segment, Sawayama stopped by to promote her song ‘This Hell,’ which serves as the lead single for her upcoming ‘Hold The Girl’ album.
When asked what the song was about, she said: “I kinda really wanted to turn it on its head, this narrative and this trauma that a lot of people have about being shunned and being wrong and told that you’re wrong from traditional religious-based beliefs.”
She continued: “Just to poke fun at it a bit and that’s how a lot of queers, I think, deal with trauma. It’s hard, but then you just go challenged accepted.”

‘Hold The Girl’ is her second full-length studio album and it has produced the singles: ‘This Hell,’ ‘Catch Me In The Air,’ and the title track.
The project is set to serve as the follow-up to her 2020 critically-acclaimed debut album, ‘Sawayama,’ which spawned such classics as: ‘Tokyo Love Hotel,’ ‘Bad Friend,’ ‘XS,’ ‘Dynasty,’ and more.
‘Hold The Girl’ hits stores on September 16 via Dirty Hit.
