Simulation theory, where humanity are just sims in an analogue of The Matrix, is alive and well but it seems Neil deGrasse Tyson has a few questions on philosophical grounds. Queer considering he once argued philosophy is useless, but getting one’s ego sidelined for creepy ‘Indian handshakes’ potentially humbled him. Still he argues how aliens are probably the one percent of the one percent, relegating humanity to dumb animals by comparison. Well if that’s the case perhaps first contact isn’t in the cards and we should hop over to the universe next door where Charlie Brown married that Redheaded Girl instead of divorcing Lucy Van Pelt after years of abuse and crippling alcoholism, at least those humans would be our peers. But Are Parallel Universes Physically Real, Or Just An Unsupported Idea? Ethan Siegel tackles the thorny question of universes-next-door, not the possible love lives of Charles Shulz characters, and the theory and reality of extra dimensions. (CS)
