While we’re pretty sure any week is a good week to be Beyonce, this week is proving itself a particularly good time to be the Queen.
As if earning a historic seventh run atop the Billboard 200 with her latest album ‘Renaissance’ wasn’t enough reason to ‘drop it like a thotty,’ the 40-year-old diva later learned the set’s lead single – ‘Break My Soul’ – broke records when it landed at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 (not long after doing the same in the U.K.).
To add to all of that, the good folks at Parkwood/Columbia have finally answered the prayer of many-an-impatient #Beyhive member and updated the sales of her iconic catalog.
With that, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) has announced a slew of certification upgrades – so many the songstress has now blasted past Katy Perry to be listed as the third best-selling female artist of the digital era.
Details inside:
The RIAA took to press Monday (August 8) to unveil nearly 70 certification upgrades for the singer’s biggest hits including ‘Halo’ (now at 9x Platinum), ‘Single Ladies‘ (now at 9x Platinum), ‘Crazy in Love’ (now at 6x Platinum), and ‘Irreplaceable‘ (now at 6x Platinum).
“Platinum” denotes sales of 1 million units in the United States.

With the RIAA refresh seen above, Bey’s digital sales now sit at 113.5 million.
As such, she leap-frogs over Perry, Justin Bieber, The Weeknd, Chris Brown, and Bruno Mars to become the sixth best-selling artist of the digital era. Only Eminem, Drake, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, and Kanye West reported higher certified units. Among women, Bey’s gargantuan sales tally only trails Rih’s 155.5 million and Taylor’s 134 million sold (as of time reported).
But if the commercial response to ‘Renaissance’ is any indication, that may not be the case for long. Click here to read more about that.
